Very nice adjustable feed holder, impressive piece of work. You should patent the design and start production :)
The feed holder looks to be universal, the three adjustment rods that centre the feed seem capable of accepting C, Ku and Ka size feeds

Rgds

Thanks moonbase, I still need to elongate the holes in the ring where the threaded rod passes through it to allow adjustment

For C band I need a larger collar, it will just fit the same way as the KU one above, the ring above is slightly smaller than a standard C band ring,

I bought a 30mm collar today, this will be cut in two and fabricated to clamp round the precision feed for testing

Popped the focal finder in today, its not a million miles away :), popped the lnb on for a quick test, I noted some signal levels from 0.8W before I started with the new arms holder and LNB gained as much as 36% on some transponders compered to the old LNB setup :),

Its still work in progress but nearly finished

...... can't help but stare at that bottom photo, it's a thing of mechanical beauty with it's curve's and purposeful appearance. Like it. ;)

Yes, it definitely looks as though its a serious piece of satellite kit.

Thanks guys, just doing some final cutting and bending, part of my design is to have the ability for multi LNB something like this :)
IMG_3852.JPG IMG_3853.JPG

First C band signals ive not lined anything up just through it on, V7 is clearing AFN just watching cricket :)

First of all I need to say that it is a beautiful piece of kit you have made with the LNB holder.

My dish might not perform in KU due to its age/might be spun for C band, I will install the channel master if not.

But I seem to remember that the greater the f/D, the better cross-polarisation separation you get.
So apart from the surface accuracy and general geometry retention of the old dish, perhaps the PF dish is best for circular signals (as C-band was commonly sent with), whereas the higher f/D dishes (CM240) are better for H/V separated signals?

Great Job Blade. BTW tested a 422 HD feed on the V7, recorded OK and it played back perfectly on the PC with VLC.

Boys, iv'e also got one of these V7 things, can you just check to see if it will accept a Cband LOF of 5.76 in the lnb menu please. Ta.

Thanks C, have you set this up over lan/removing usb and taking it to PC, ive not set mine up as yet.

Thanks st1,
There's a million and one combinations of making a satellite dish each one will make something slightly different, wavelengths is a one of the main factors,

This link is full of useful information, try and find time to have a read through it,
The Antenna Theory Website

The link below is also a good read, if you ever have any questions ask here its full of people who know what there talking about, unlike me :-buttkick:-lol

No, not set up over the LAN, but using a small external HDD, records in the standard TS format.

Thanks C, you can do the same with 4K they normally scans in as radio channels, I will try and find time to set the wifi usb stick up this week and get it working over lan, I will report back

Thanks BM. Sorry, I meant can you show us the dish in relation to the garden etc. Something like a view from an upstairs window or what somebody looking over the fence might see? I am trying to gauge how much I can potentially get away with in my garden! (wife permitting)

In the beginning of the thread there were much more broader pictures (however taken at night or dawn time ), now I can see only some parts of the installed equipment. Perhaps it is because the installed dish is too big, lawn is too small or used camera has too narrow viewing angle, or maybe all 3 of them. I just can not imagine what could be the visible arc of such an installation in such a tight space if it is even not possible to take overall picture! Perhaps, task of taking nice pictures, is only possible to give to remote-controlled drone?! But, as far as I've understood, dish is already tuned to some satellite and signals are being received. So, I am little bit lost here.
