ESPN was fractionally higher than FS a couple of hours ago - for me here ....
they are now equal at 9.3 db .... early evening is certainly best for me up here in the north west on both transponders .

i only ask, as some tend to exagerate readings, like my Edision MIO over reads DB compared to the Octagon 8008 - the 5402 Mk3 -= also over states i reckon....dont have a proper meter to ever tell which is telling the truth and which is telling porkies

I have found the Octagon SF8008 to be consistent with the Dr HD F15 in dB readings.
The TM-5402 (M3) slightly overstates them compared to the SF8008 and the F15.

CrazyScan and EBS Pro with a TBS card normally produce accurate readings. However with EBS Pro the tabular list can sometimes give a low reading but going into the Signal Analyser tab of EBS Pro yields a more accurate reading.

Just a quick heads up to anyone who wants to regularly record C-Band dB readings and get an easily viewable summary, OpenOffice (Windows) and LibreOffice (Linux) are free and have a decent spreadsheet.
Once you have a few lines and columns in a spreadsheet it is easy to chart them or simply see trends from looking at the rows and columns.

it's a bit off topic but I did a dB comparison between the MIO4K and a TBS 6983 card
There is a difference between KU band and C band
in KU band when the signal is strong the 6983 gives higher values than the MIO4K (14,2 / 13.7)
when the signal is weaker it is the opposite (7.2/7.8)
in C-band with a strong signal the difference in favour of MIO4K is not great (11.5/11.8)
with a weak signal the MIO4K gives a proportionally higher value (4.8/5.5)

Morning .... @Manikm909

Had a play with some different l.n.b.f,s on that tricky ESPN transponder last night on 1.8 c.m. dish ... got a decent result with a Titanium 1.JPG Although the BSC421 still has a marginally better result ......

Also on both l.n.b.f,s - i tried Changing the plate position 90 degrees and reversing the receiver polarity - as @amdade spoke of in post 163, but was a around 0.5 - 0.7 db db down with both l.n.b.f,s - even when skew optimized ... so no lock .
I was using my trusty "Vipersan" style plate on all experiments ....

Pic here of best positioning for titanium .... 2.JPG .. same as for BSC421.

Cheers.
