If you use chimney straps/lashings above the roof round the chimney and a T and K below you will be more than sorted.

Personally i would never use a wire lashing Kit they are fine on small aerial installs but for dish use absolutely not, when i have done even just standard Freesat/Sky installs on chimney i have always used the Stack Strap Kits a lot more expensive but will outlast a wired lashing kit any day of the week.

Nothing wrong with wire lashing kits been going longer than anything and stood the test of time, also nothing wrong with the other type and easier to fit :).

Hi Martin
if you don't mind could you just confirm a couple of things . this is my Latitude:53.4382° and Longitude:-2.9691°
so would I put the first 4 no is my box not sure on the Longitude also my lnb should be set to 0 and with the connection part facing downwards at 6'oclock and I should be trying to get a good fix on 72.1e Intelsat 22 (is-22) / 0.8w Intelsat 10-02/Thor 5 Thor 6 and 78w Venesat-1 to get the best Arc also I have set my Elevation Angel on my motor to 53 and on my dish Bracket is at 27 . apologies for all the questions weather permitting I should have it all setup tomorrow/Today :)

thanks for your time

your pushing it with a 1.1m dish on the chimney stack, even if its a strong stack in good condition the wind load will be large. if you do id advise drilling the pole/motor bracket and putting a bolt through it once its perfectly set up as ive seen many a diseqce motor move around the pole and you dont want to be going on the roof after every gale force storm. my chimney stack has the strap style bracket and has a uhf/fm/dab array aswel as an 80cm orbital with usals motor

dont have too much pole above the top K bracke either as the dish will bounce around in strong winds. keep it as low as you can and getting the arc

looking at the picture of your install i would leave the wire type to the professionals;) , yes you are best sticking to the other type until you get the hang of it:), if fitted correctly the wire type is fine, this video should help you with future installs,

You might be best setting something like this up to practice on before you go out trying to install them in the real world, good luck :).

Yes, put the first 4 digits of each in your box - round it off. So your latitude will be 53.44 North and longitude 02.97 West.

First send your dish to 0.8W, set the latitude scale on your motor to 53.44 degrees or the elevation scale to 36.56 degrees (use an inclinometer if you have one) and dish elevation to around 24 degrees. Align to 0.8W and use 52E (Turkmensat transponders) and 45W satellites as your eastern and western limits. There's currently nothing broadcasting beyond 45W in Ku over Europe (except some feeds) and 72.1E is *very* low in the sky and not easy to get.

Good bit of info on the 45W - 72.1E. Saves attempting the impossible.
