There is little to be gained in the promises of a 0.1/2/3/4 device if the front end has anything in the circuit that exceeds this noise figure.

Plus, if the LNB has been in the sun for a few weeks the circuitry will be baked to the same as last year, the year before, year before .....

I put my DarkGold 0.1db on my dish earlier to see how it performed against the Golden Media.

Weird results..........

On the strong sats, 28.2e, 19.2e and 13e it trounced the Golden Media.

Prime example is 10714H 22000 on 28.2e - a 6% swing in signal quality.

At 0.8W and 8W the Golden Media was a good 3-5% better on signal quality and strength than the DarkGold.

Noted, on the meter on strength, the GM201 was consistently a couple of % stronger than the DarkGold, it's just for some reason on strong transponders, the DarkGold really performs well quality wise.

The truth is, the best lnbs are those that can perform well on the weaker transponders. An lnb which performs better on strong signal is not very useful, if you ask me.

Afternoon test (sunny, 35°!) with new LNB "Dur-line + ultra" on Triax 100cm on 8W 12604H :

IBU new : 54% SQ ( ~8 .5 db some freezes)
Dur-line +ultra : 58% SQ (~9.3 db)

Good surprise for this LNB from Amazon!

Currently in the process of setting up a multi lnb of 28.2 19.2,13 and have took my GM 202+ off my motor I , still need a lnb for the center but what's considered the go to lnb (twin) for motorised or should I just get another GM202+.

@AtOM13 is the dur line from Amazon.de , you got a link and what about a twin version?

As regards getting a different lnb for the center because the body on this is too wide , great lnb but, suggestions

Yes Dur-line from Amazon, very good rated. I've got the white single +ultra model .
I've already setting up multi LNB on 100cm and 80cm dish ( 26e 19.2e 13e and 1w 13e 19e ) with Inverto black ultra LNBs (new model).
No need to use "slim" LNB, traditional LNB will do the job, space between is enough

I've read the thread is the conclusion that the GM201+ is better on 28, 19, 13 east. I'll be getting the twin version GM202+. Also like the look of the Dur line ultra twin White .

Hi guys, just joined the forum recently, so I apologize if I'm kind of a newbie on this subject.

I'm from the west of France and I've recently pointed my 80cm dish on 7°E (to hunt feeds mostly) with an old twin-LNB monoblock which I got with my dish when I bought it. Thing seems kinda cheap and crap.. Absolutly no markings written on it whatsoever .. Receiveing power is about 89dBuV and my CN and MER are like 7.0/9.0dB each on most feeds (which drops a lot on low powered TP)

Anyway, I'm looking for a brand new LNB in order lock a better signal and improve reliability. Since I'm using a twin-LNB monoblock, I was wondering if there were any that could work on 7°E and 13°E. Is that possible with a 6° twin monoblock ?

If yes, well I might be interested in those.
If not, that's okey, a single LNB is fine too since I'm mostly interested in 7°E.

Thanks a lot in advance guys :)

N-B: I've cleaned the monoblock since, just saying.

Hi @RicePlay33 , welcome to the Forum. I am pretty sure that a little bit bigger dish (like 90cm) will give you much better increase in performance of your satellite system than playing around with different LNBs. It even might happen that you will not see difference in performance after you change one LNB to another one. I would also suggest trowing away your monoblock LNB and install 2 separate LNBs on multifeed, that will give you possibility to adjust each LNB individually.

Bienvenue @RicePlay33 ! La plupart des monoblock sont à 6° (Astra/Hotbird ) une Sedea ( brico dépôt) fera l'affaire .
But like said @RimaNTSS , whatever the Lnb a bigger dish is always the best way to increase performance

Thanks @RimaNTSS! Merci @AtOM13! Je la fais courte pour pas embêter les autres, mais c'est super d'avoir des Français sur ce genre de forums :)

Damn tho.. I initally thought that going with a 80cm one would be enough (as I've checked the 7°E beam data on their website). But I probably missed the point that feeds TPs are much weaker and with a higher bitrate than the standard ones used for normal broadcasting. At least, on the good side, it wasn't pretty expensive (dude was selling the whole set for €20) I'm gonna search for a 130cm or even 150cm one (heck, why not after all) but theses seems quite rare on the used market. Saw a couple one on sale for like €20 too but in Strasbourg but lol, way too far

I think I'm gonna go the way you mentionned @RimaNTSS, a multi-single LNB setup. It's probably gonna be way more precise indeed and I'll be able to have multiple interesting sats too. The Inverto brand seems nice, but can't decide between a Pro or Ultra. Should I go with PLL one too ? I've read the multiple tests that @cwsat made with the new Ultra one, it seems pretty good actually. Might be a good idea for the future dish ?

If I do find one, I'm probably gonna keep this cheap monoblock and dish for a standard Astra/Hotbird "the big TV package" combo on the roof.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your kind welcoming, from both of you ! :)

With a different sized dish, the 6 degree part changes and so any monoblock is going to be awkward to set up.

Find out about local restrictions and check with visibility from the neighbours side of the fence as to any objections first before buying a large dish

As far as I know, there are no 130cm dishes. Usually sellers measure the vertical size and present his antenna to look bigger, therefore more expensive. In reality, standard size is 1,2m (horizontal). Anyway, if you have the space where to install antenna, then not limit yourself..... just install the biggest you can. Sure, check for local rules and ask your neighbors in case they do not like the idea. And, why do not have the big antenna motorized? One antenna, one LNB but you have all satellites available.

Hi @Channel Hopper ! Well that's what I am afraid of too, yeah. So no more monoblock, only gonna recycle it for 13/19.2°.
Will do, actually I'm down an alley, no sight from the road or neighbors, except from the left side but they're pretty cool, I'm gonna ask them. Plus, the dish is gonna be on the other side + hidden by the house itself, so it should be fine for them. The only thing I'll have to do is a simple statement to the local authorities (mandatory for +1m wide dishes here in France)

@RimaNTSS My bad, yeah the website I saw was listing it as 130cm but dimensions are 134x127cm :Y I finally have this chance, I was dreaming about sats stuff for so long but never had the chance to live somewhere I could install a dish. Since I'm thinking about getting serious hardware, yep, that's smth I'm gonna consider ! Of course, the major issue is cost*, like everything else. (*and like many hobbies lol)

But if you look more carefully, than the working area of that dish is not bigger than 121cm. 127x134cm more likely, are physical dimensions.
