That watermark amused me somewhat.

There was five satellites in last night's photo, only three now. Assuming 1H has now moved on, which other satellite has also moved or is one something else?

Lets see what happens now 1H has passed by 43E, if 2E is raised higher in orbit, as per 2F and moves 1.6W/day
That is 3 months worth of station keeping fuel to save a few days. What would be the point?

Think you and others have been duped.

Cannot think WGs setup can give the results you all hunger after:D

""" Equipment is sort of standard stuff, Canon 7D and a 100mm/f2,0 lens.
The most important part is the tripod, really heavy and stable (can be used
as a ladder). Finding the sweet spot where noise is low helps a lot.
ISO 200, black frame subtraction and cold weather in my case.
The lens covers 12 degrees horizontally, usefull to get many satellites to
identify a single new one among them. Some randomly disappear when
no reflexions come in your direction."""

Errm, on Digital Spy there is a claim that the mooted changes (Whatever they may be) of last night are due tonight.

I shall lose no sleep over this.

Surely if it happened last night then someone using a generic receiver would have reported having to rescan the 2A TPs to update the PIDs. Assuming nothing happened last night then all the previous speculation could still hold true.

Well I thought I would give this a go from my location (that has terrible light pollution).

Used Nikon D50. 105mm, f/1.8 lens wide open, 1600 iso. Stack of five 30 second exposure pictures. Even under these poor viewing conditions photo clearly shows satellites along the Clark belt. Darkframe shows nothing that corresponds to these spots.

I would have thought WG, should be able to do a lot better than this as his location is much colder and further from light pollution.

King of Sat is reporting some PID changes on "Eutelsat 28A, 28.2°E" - e.g.
  • (22h53) Freesat & Sky Digital: New PID for Bloomberg U.K.: PID:2404/2405 English SID:52550 (11426.00MHz, pol.V SR:27500 FEC:2/3 - Clear).
  • (22h53) Freesat & Sky Digital: New PID for France 24 (in English): PID:2418/2421 English SID:52570 (11426.00MHz, pol.V SR:27500 FEC:2/3 - Clear).
My media centre hasn't needed a retune (the SID's being unchanged might be enough though)

good morning today astra 1h near the turksat

TLE update is already pretty old. SES has more current values:

Code:
SUBJECT: ELEVEN PARAMETER EPHEMERIS FOR Astra-1H/ 52.30 DEG. E

YEAR MONTH DAY HOUR MINUTE SECOND
2013 11 28 03 45 00

THE EPHEMERIS VALUES ARE:

LM0 LM1 LM2
DEG. E DEG/DAY DEG/DAY/DAY
42.7718 -0.5987 0.000877

It seems to slow down a bit.

2E is according to the latest TLE still at 43.5. Next one will be interesting.

Channels back after a reboot, apparently. Perhaps there was some change of PID overnight.
