Well if you remove the wildlife that is inclined to live inside the LNB feedhorn, you might get another 0.5dB!

well a bird shat on my 28°E LNB <img src='http://cdn.satellites.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smilies/pissed.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=''O'-red' />... but only sideways, he just about missed the feedhorn membrane (Invacom LN:cool:...

Is it cold & clear there? That could easily explain a few extra percent on the lnb readings.

There was a BIG jump in power levels when 2D was shut down & 1N took over. Here in the UK I wouldnt expect there to be much of a change on the 1N tp's, but we should see another big jump when 2B swaps over.

Not sure what it means, but I was receiving 5*, 5* + 1, 5 USA, etc on the 10996/H/22000 transponder this morning. Now I am getting ITV1 Meridian, ITV1 Anglia E, ITV1 Yorks E, ITV1 HD, ITV1 Central SW, ITV1+1 on this transponder so something has changed. My current location is about 40 miles south of Alicante Spain.

Nothing has changed - they are on adjacent frequencies. Both the ITV's & the C5's are exactly where they were yesterday.

ah yes, Scotland... where there are only two kinds of weather... rain and drizzle... :-righton

but maybe Analoguesat was asking me, because I just said something that my readings were up after I cleaned my dish today...

and yes, today was clear and crisp here... sunny and cold, about 5°C...

It seems that desire to be the first to scan new transponder on Astra 2F,we forget that frequencies which were announced on the new satellite in fact there were on Astra 1N.All users on this thread know this and yet they talk as though these transponders would not have been there for a long time.
If it is necessary, according to FlySat:

i think everybody knows they are existing frequencies, but i think the assumption was that they had been moved to 2f already

Tivu:

Thanks for the reply but what I can't understand is why the 5*, 5*+1, etc, in my channel list now show 'no signal' when they were working fine this morning. Also, the ITV channels did not appear on this frequency when I scanned it this morning. When I scanned it again about an hour ago the ITVs appeared but the 5's were gone, hence my conclusion that something had changed.

Something may well have changed ................. but not at the Satellite end of things.

Others have confirmed that there has been no change up there.

So you need to look closer to home!

The listed nominal frequencies of those two adjacent TPs are 10964 and 10994 >>>> One digit different.

I just flipped through most of my Freesat channels, and I have no signal changes...

Unless the new UK spot beam is really not deserving of its name, I am quite sure that after the migration, I won't see between 7 and 8.5 dB (and 10 db on 4seven!! :-ohmy ) here on my receiver as I do now.

@tothbro,
I would have liked that those who announce changing transponders on Astra 2F to shows us if there are any differences of signal between Astra 1N and the new satellite.Perhaps it is the only visual indicator for those who do not receive UK spot.Perhaps the change in channels schedule is a sign that something is happening now on Astra 2F.So far there's no actual concrete evidence of transfer of packets from one satellite to another.

Needs to be a stable signal for any chance of use doing any sort of useful level comparison. Right now it is up and down like a yo-yo, so we are all going to be looking at different signal levels due to timing, rather than our locations.

Based on your past experience, how long do you think it might be before we see a stable signal and then how long before we see a modulated carrier wave?

I only ask as it might help the large number of people who think Astra 2F is transmitting TV programs and are reporting they have not seen a signal change.

And why do you think the signal strength varies?

Are they still position the satellite so it points at the UK?

Terry
