Please provide some context and accreditation for that pic. (It appears to be from an SES Web Source, but you really need to be explicit).

Pictures are worth many words - but only if we have some idea of where it comes from and what you're wanting to convey.

For more info SES has an interactive fleet option with ( possible ) satellite footprints based on the google earth plugin.

You're taking the thread off topic again. Maybe it was because certain previous payloads from that launch site failed to reach their required orbit, and nothing to do with ASAP.

And don't forget this is not a simple exercise: 2F has to seamlessly take over from 1N and 1N has then to be released for its originally intended purpose of serving the 19.2E position and shifted there accordingly. The timings, the complexities and the need for contingencies all mean that it isn't a straightforward exercise.

Not by a long chalk.

TENERIFE TV seeing as you know a bit do you think the rebroadcasts and community dishes will just move to 27.5w and get new boxes with the codes etc as to me, how could people sell these as codes on these channels could be changed in a week or years but the people are paying money. What do you think the canary islands will do to get english tv , what systems will they come up with and will the re-broadcast system still work? cheers .

Broadcasters and Satellite Operators aren't stupid - any significant uptake of something "gettable" will be made somewhat difficult in short order.

And in English :)

From the SES press release:

SES has renewed a multiple transponder contract with the BBC. The capacity, a total of six transponders, has been contracted on a long term basis and will be used for services in both standard and high definition. The capacity will be hosted on the SES satellites positioned at the orbital position 28.2 degrees East. SES is currently undertaking a large fleet investment programme at that orbital position.

Some believe that if 2F cannot be received in the Canaries and this leads to an increase in reception of the channels via Intelsat 907 the BBC will take its encryption more seriously. I think that due to the dish size issue (i.e. you needed a 2.4 to 3.0 m dish anyway to receive the FTA BBC signals from 2D and currently a 1.8 m dish for 1N) takeup of the signals on Intelsat 907 would already have exploded if it was going to do so.
