Sorry for asking and if mods deem off topic feel free to delete this post.

Question is where are all these observations going to clarify the end result/reception when this bird finally gets to 28.2E.

Re. post 614:-

No real way to tell. All the info about beams on these threads are guesswork, nothing more.

It appears SES are obviously testing on a Sunday which never happened with 1N, Sundays were definitely a day of rest at Bedsdorf last year during the 1N testing phase but from these reports today not with 2F, reinforces the fact SES want this bird's testing phase completed so they can get it to 28.2E and thus relieve 1N of current service.

You are absolutely correct. The actual true footprint is pure speculation apart from the maps.

It's still cool that these guys have made an effort to detect and report the signal reception in their areas.
It does help to a certain extent but we wont be 100% certain till the bird arrives at 28.2.

I almost installed a dish to get some indication to the strength and could compare but haven't had much time.
Fingers crossed some of peeps well out of the footprint have got some hope of receiving a signal when the move occurs. Plus possibly SES and the others may find the posted information quite useful.

Solly what dish is that on? Also what power level do you need on your chart to resolve a DVB-S transponder.

Solly, can I ask why you assume some of these Txp's are spot beam and some PE beam? The truth is that all this is guesswork until at 28.2E so what your receiving at your location is only likely to be PE or spot depending how far east the footprint is currently skewed. We'll only know once at 28.2E for sure exactly what the real spot and PE beams are like when the reception reports come rolling in.
