Er no actually, it was traditional ENGLISH! (Yorkshires, chicken, stuffing, roast potatoes, roast parsnips and steamed veggies with Xmas pudding and custard to follow)........note to self : no meals for next two days.

Great, you just made me feel even more hungry (haven't had lunch, so stomach's complaining).... :p

Still little sign of snow here, I feel left out with this lack of fun weather... :(

I hope that's an outdoor toilet...

Actually, no. But it is on the side of the house without direct heating. Ive managed to fit some additional secondary glazing on three of the five windows which should stop any pipes from doing something they shouldn't.

I must fit that wood stove in the conservatory at some point.

Blimey, makes me glad there's a radiator infront of our loo, very useful on cold days when you're doing your duties, assuming the boiler's actually working.... :p

Here's an example of the modifications

The outside shot shows the standard 1930's window frame. Iron framework and thin panes.

The inside shows the additions, utilising two double glazing panels, some draught excluder in the appropriate spaces, all held onto the inner frame with standard plasterboard screws.

Not only is the room somewhat warmer, its now also much quieter with five pieces of glass between inside and out. Well worth the hour or so per window.

Excellent job.

Years ago, I rented a room in a house with only a downstairs fire and we often had ice on the inside of the windows where the condensation froze up. Nothing we tried made much of a difference, even with cardboard 'shutters' it was still colder inside.

Well I've cleared away last night's foot plus of fresh snow as far as the road, and a Farmer has been past with a Snow Plough on his Tractor. Done a far better job than the Council ever bother to do.

Trouble is, it's three and a half miles to the A19 and we don't know what route the Farmer took, or how far he went.

Advised SWMBO not even to try getting to work for an hour or six.

-4°C, hard frost but the sky is full. Chance of snow here today, not ideal for installation work.

The snow is slushy, so SWMBO is going to make a break for it.

I'll Post up some pics later, once I know she's got to work ok.

Well, you could always just follow his cleared route and if you end up at his farm, cover your error by asking for half a dozen eggs!!

Another cloudless day here, but there had been a deep frost last night and it's currently only 12°C in the living room.

Is that to the benefit of the occupant or the passers-by outside?

You know, if you have an old "dirty fan" vacuum cleaner, you could use that as a snow blower:

Just don't forget the RCD (borrowed from the lawnmower)... :-rofl2

Very permeable snow, this: The 80cm Motorised has the LNB face completely obscured and the Arm is also laden, yet every Satellite is coming in fine.

And yet, on other occasions, less severe snow has caused total loss of everything.

I feel a scientific thesis coming on.
