No snow overnight here, but it got cold enough to freeze up the boiler's condensate pipe yet again, If I knew where the stepladders were, I'd be up on them cutting the damned thing off a few inches from where it exits the house, I'm sick of it!!!

I was woken up at about 1:30am from it's rumbling noise, at least it's an "easy" fix, and I left the bucket in place from the last time, so once the pipe was knocked off, it dumped it's load, and went back to being quiet again....

Very extravagant using the Boiler during the night ........ ours goes off at 21.00 and back on at 06.00

(Save for the not infrequent occasions when the -5C Frost Stat takes over!).

Well, this house is utter pants, so if it didn't run during the night, it'd freeze indoors....

Blimey, what an eventful day here!!

The snow turned to sleet, then rain, the lying snow started dissappearing quickly and the temperature rose to over +6°. The sun even came out while I walked the dogs! Then this evening a Westerly gale blew up, the thermometer has stayed above freezing, but it looks like rain/sleet/snow again.

Oh, the wind was so strong it blew my dish round the motor stub again. Ended up about 20° out. I've roughly realigned it (to within a couple of °) and given the dish mount bolts a good tightening. I must admit to perhaps not 'laying into them' during the summer when I installed the whole thing and I wonder if the cold weather has made the whole thing shrink and slacken off. Anyway, I'll put up with it until the weather improves........that'll be June.....I hope!!

More snow (around 3 hours) forecast for this area tomorrow late afternoon, on top of the stuff that came down last week
So definitely no work until Wednesday at the earliest.

Another day of below freezing temperatures, with a heavy snow shower blowing through late afternoon. It'll be a nasty journey into work tomorrow. :(

Not three bad here (either that or we've got used to it): Zero all day, no further snow and the roads almost.

Well, i finally did to the condensate pipe what I've been threatening to for a while, I cut it off, and inside the pipe it was solid ice, it was just one big, long lump of ice, if it was made with orange juice, it could have been the biggest Calippo in the world!!!

Once the winter's done, I would attempt to rebuild it, but, it's not our responsibility.... :p

There's just the small matter of coming up with a plausible explanation for the wanton vandalism when the maintenance bod arrives O-no

Another 2"-3" overnight snow but it's quite wet and outside temp above freezing so it's slowly melting. All the forecasts I can find indicate rain for the next three days. I hope so as I need two essentials from the shops, cat food and a bottle of single malt whisky. I'll leave you to figure out who they're destined for!!

Well if you are a Dave Allen fan, you'll know that Whisky prevents Worms, so that rules neither you nor the Cat out.

Just spoken to my sister near Chartres, 20cm or more of snow overnight, plus drifts on nearby roads. The farmer has ploughed the village roads, but the link roads are at this stage impassable as you can't see where they are.:)

I'm a little worried that Dave Allen would probably promote something spelt 'whiskey', thereby perhaps negating it's efficacy as I prefer a distillation from the Highlands.

However, the cats (plural as I have 6) have tablets for worms so I think that leaves a 12 year old bottle of Glenfiddich single malt for me, ta very much!!

Nowhere near as bad here and I think in this case my being a little further south and inland has helped. Rolf, I'm sure it's not deja vu, but didn't we have a similar discussion last year LOL

I think we did.:) Just checked the forecast on Yahoo for the route down from Callais via Rouen and Dreux to Chartres on Thursday and looks like it will be above freezing with either light snow or more probably rain, so keeping hopeful for the trip.:)

Just speaking to a friend in Taunton. They've had the largest dump of snow since anyone can remember, about eight inches. M5 closed going north and one lane open going south.

Yes, sounds as if it has now badly affected all parts of Britain at one time or another.
