Hehe :) You are right. i was also wondering the reason...

My Asus RT-AC68U struggles to deliver full speed, it is a known issue for such an old router
[RT-AC68U] Getting 1Gbps WAN-LAN throughput

250Mbps easy to handle. But now CPU hits 100% and CPU temperature reaches over 90 C°
i have to upgrade to a newer router or will just use ethernet cable from converter directly connected to my MacPro.

Very jealous of the 1Gbps FTTH though. We're way behind with FTTH here, FTTC is a poor relation.

Yes, but BT came over three times, possibly more in secret and said there was no issue. It was only the last time when they got ladders off the van and climbed the telegraph pole, some three years later......

I am getting roughly 53mbps down 18mbps up. I was promised speeds of at least 55 to 72 down. As a result I am thinking about going back to my old package which was 38/20. Not paying an extra £5 for just an extra 15mbps or so.

The cabinet is only at the bottom of the street about 100 meters away from me. Could be my old router at fault?

Not my router(unless it is faulty, it is at least 5 years old). it is capable of up to 150mbps.

I really don't want to fork out money for a new router if I can help it.

TM 5402hd,dm500s,vu+solo, pc,laptop,tablet,smartphone. Smartmeter S1 (since someone robbed my satcatcher excel tv mk4)) emitor micro HD. very old promax explorer

Out here on Fraggle rock (Fuerteventura) now finally up and running with FTTH. 600Mb synchronous....not bad for a little rock in the Atlantic

The damage? £99/month for new customers on a 12-month contract, £139/month thereafter.
The VIVID 500 broadband, which is only available as part of Virgins V.VIP bundle, is supposedly seven times faster than speeds offered by BT and Sky, and capable of downloading a 4K film (average size 20G:cool: in under six minutes.

As nice as it is to see these speeds, I don't think I'd make use of it. My 50Mbit down is more than enough and it never felt lacking. Obviously, use cases vary...

Again out here on our little rock. Just been informed that towards end of year we could be offered an upgrade from 600Mbit synchronous to 1Gbit synchronous.....bit of a jump in a year going from 6-8 Mbit ADSl to 1 Gbit.
The 600/600 with unlimited landline (local area) mobile 200mins and 5Gig data and basic spanish tv pack comes in at 67 euro...bit pricey. Lots of wifi antennas gone up recently...wonder if lots of people sharing their intertnet:eek:
