5 West A is becoming inclined (0.18° now), buying some time (months) for a solution. Inclination will increase with almost 0.1° per month.

It makes me wonder if Eutelsat are still on extended leave as no positive action so far

Eutelsat 13E still looks like the best bet for 5 West & they had better make a move soon or they will have some very irate customers to contend with

13 east does not need 13E atm
Hotbird 13B & 13C each have 64 transponders x 2 =128 transponders available with only 95 in use @ 13° East & 33 spare,

Eutelsat 13F & 13 G will launch to 13 east in under 18 months time this will give Eutelsat some much needed breathing space.

Eutelsat may make some decisions next week as to the continuation of back up for 5 west now that Eutelsat 5 West A has become inclined & the new 5 West B is just not serviceable for moving to 5 west,

Thats a minor problem considering 5WB is almost certainly a write off. Continuity of service for the customer is the most important thing, and if that means running less than ideal beams for a couple of years then thats an acceptable tradeoff.

It's not just the Italian DTT feeds, it's the French ones too. Not to mention the Fransat service also at 5W that needs to be maintained. It could be that the DTT feeds could be shifted elsewhere with a short dual-illumination period to allow transmitter operators to realign dishes for the new feeds, but trying to do the same for Fransat would be a logistical nightmare! If I was to take an educated guess of sorts, it's probable that the 5WB satellite is part functional but doesn't have enough power to immediately replace all Ku Band activity presently on 5WA, so either the French and/or Italian DTT feeds will have to go somewhere else with just enough juice left on 5WB to carry Fransat and a few smaller transponders, with an on-ground "spare" getting prepared or built to be named Eutelsat 5WC, or maybe that 5WB is too badly non-functional that it can't go into commercial service. As suggested by others above, having HotBird 13E take up emergency cover at 5W is certainly possible - outside bet would be Eutelsat approaching Turksat to temporarily lease Turksat 4B at 50E over to 5W!

For those in my area of Europe it is good to know that there is no chance to get signal from the Italy spot in my area with small dishes,more precisely with the 150cm antenna in the northern part of Romania I would be glad to be contradicted by those who manage to receive this spot with such an antenna.The Italians providers have have succeeded what they have proposed ,don't let the signal out of their spot!
