Were the tests On ME strength do you think or European Beam?

Downlink coverage of Eutelsat 8 west B

10950 to 11200 probably MENA beam
11200 to 11700 mixture of both if you look through my satellite finder pictures you may be able to tell
12500 to 12750 European beam ? very strong signals here

There is no real way to tell until the satellite goes into service I would imagine that if the tests were on this beam
E8WB_Ku-band_east.jpg

I would not have received them

But this beam may be possible

E8WB_Ku-band_mena.jpg
As it is similar to the Eutel 7west A footprint :)
EUTELSAT 7 West A satellite - downlink coverages - Eutelsat

It would seem that Eutelsat 8westB can broadcast over the entire Ku band 10.7 to 12.75GHz
Reports from the ME beam FlySat Eutelsat 8 West B @ 1.7° East
Friends from Saudi Arabia and other places were able to get many frequencies from 1.7° E ; again , this is very strange and confusing since the satellite is equipped with 40 Ku band TPs only , scattered over 4 coverage beams .

Few more test carriers today 11200 to 11700 not as strong as the ones recorded yesterday so these could be on the MENA beam.

All readings taken yesterday were probably on the European Beam.

A lot of test carriers today 12500 to 12750 changing frequencies every couple of minutes so they must be nearing completion very soon.

Am I right in thinking Eutelsat 8 West B will rereplace Eutelsat 8West A ?? (Launched Sept 2001)
Or is this extra capacity for the 7West / 8 West position in general??
Thank you

Eutelsat 8 West B will probably replace both Eutelsat 8 West A & Eutelsat 8 West C/Hotbird-6 launched in August 2002 FlySat Eutelsat 8 West C @ 7.5° West
As both these satellites are at the end of life for geoststionary orbit & will be used elsewhere for inclined orbit data streams.

Actually both ; the new satellite will replace E8WA & E8WC as they are getting old ; and it will provide some extra capacity for 7° west satellites as both nilesat 201 & E7WA are nearly full and running out of capacity; and within tha coming couple of years ; there will be no more space for more channels and both companies ( Nilesat & Eutelsat )will have to look for a new orbital slot ...

ABS 3A @ 3 west
abs3a-mena.jpg

Will provide extra transponders for this region very soon also a twin Lnb fixed dish system will be possible (3 west + 7 & 8 west)

All the TPs on this beam were leased by arabsat ; in spite of about half the capacity in 26° east is still available

Maybe ABS leases are cheaper than Arabsat's ? just a matter of economics.

May be ; but I think it's more than that . Arabsat is a very well organised organisation; with very good planning and future insight ; with regular and achievable expansion plan ; Arabsat's satellites are present at 26° E , 30° E , 20° E and 39° E , with some packages on the hotbirds and now looking to put their feet in the newly opened 3° W orbital slot .

Arabsat will expand & move some satellites over the next 18 months

Badr-7 (Arabsat 6 A to 26° East 3 November 2015 36 Ku

After the succesful launch of Badr-7
This will then allow Badr-4 move to a new location probably 34.5 east

Arabsat 6A 30.5°E 2016

Badr 7 is not Arabsat 6A !
Badr 7 is Arabsat 6B
Arabsat 6A is a new satellite previos to lanching from arabsat to 30.5°East orbital position,Arabsat 6A joining Arabsat 5A in this position.
