Bigger dish needed - you are only getting the DVB-S services, and looks like the V polarity is better for you.

Ya, why is that !! Any specific reason as to why I m only getting DVB-S services ?o_O
And/or any trick for H polarity ? :confused

The DVB-S2 transmissions are using 8PSK which requires a stronger signal to lock, about 1 to 3dB more than the DVB-S transponders, depending on the FEC used.

As for horizontal polarity being weaker, maybe it's down to your LNB not skewed quite right, the design of the LNB itself may favour vertical reception better, or most likely that the satellite footprint at the very edges is sightly better on the verticals for your area.

DVB-S2 needs more signal - often much more signal than an equivalent DVB-S transmission.

Having one polarity stronger than the other is a common factor in fringe reception conditions - if you can get someone to put a decent meter on the dish you might get an idea of just how far down the missing H's are over the V's and how much of a bigger dish you might need to get them

If you have any spare lnb's try swapping them around - you might find one works better than another. Also make sure the skew is set right - its critical for fringe reception.

You are receiving some H ie. Sisal 3 on your post, but lower snr. Could be lnb is not correctly skewed, but with respect to the channels you seek, they require a stronger signal ( more oohmph! ) the only answer is a bigger dish, or if really lucky a better lnb.

Well, the skew is correct, for a start. I ve done it with utmost precision.
I feel may be the elevation is really low for my place, ie: 10 degrees, may also be a determining factor.

Moreover, I read somewhere, that rotating the lnb 180 degrees to opposite direction may actually help in getting some polarities, H/V it depends. Is there some substance to it ?

The 10deg elevation isn't going to help matters, especially if there is moisture in the air.

I've not heard about rotating the LNB 180 degrees to help, but if you want to check if your LNB is working better on one polarity you could rotate it 90 degrees and change the H/V settings in your receiver. This will mean horizontal becomes vertical and vertical becomes horizontal. If the signal levels switch over then it would suggest an LNB problem.

Rotating 180 deg. I don't think so.
But rotating 90 deg. might make a difference, some txp better, some worse. You will have to alter all polarisations in your box to the opposite, of course. (H to V, V to H).

Edit: yup, typing on my mobile is slow, timo was quicker, yet wrote twice as much!

Yes, this LNB rotation thing can be tried. Will try to do so tomorrow.

Regarding, lower elevation, I m also contemplating mounting it upside down, as the reflector face is literally looking down on the terrace floor.
But Yes, that requires some complex calculations as well for setting up the elevation, some 2 x offset angle...

an average Joe, would probably just be content watching hotbird chnls with a big fat burger in hand slacking down on his couch, and not really care about what other sats. have to offer.... :D

Only kiddin' ;)
