And sadly, but in relation to safety, Prof Sid Watkins has died aged 84. Sid with his F1 Safety team brought changes to F1 to make F1 and motor sports safer, and who personally helped saved the lives of many F1 drivers including Didier Pironi, Nelson Piquet, Gerhard Berger, Rubens Barrichello, Mika Hakkinen, Martin Donnelly, and Karl Wendlinger.

Hope the broadcasters acknowledge this.

I would be very surprised if this fact was ignored by anyone, the man was a pioneer in motor sport safety and has saved countless lives over the years

RIP SID

After a dull first half, that certainly livened up a bit in the second half. :)

Herr Cobbler seems to have had his demolition derby hat on again :D

He's a dangerous liability: At least Maldonalduck and Growjeans will learn, but Cobbler's eyesight and reactions are such that he shouldn't be allowed to keep his Super Licence.

My neighbour's stepson is at the Race - lucky ba**ard.

Jens had a narrow squeak after the first restart - must have missed the back of Sebs Red Bull by millimetres!

And now Webber has lost his point (Phrased ambiguously with forethought!).

PS: Mightily impressed how Massa kept it together at one point, when a total wipeout looked inevitable - best skill he has shown all Season.

So Hamilton leaves his "team for life" to join Mercedes.
Does that mean the cobbler is retring? Or simply moving?
And who will join JB at McLaren...- hopefully for some more "Tooned"!

Update: ccording to BBC Sauber driver Sergio Perez has signed as Hamilton's replacement at McLaren.

Correct - Perez.

Great moves for the Sport, but I feel a tad sorry for Paul di Resta.

The Hamilton move has been on the cards for a while I guess, but the Perez/McLaren partnership has exciting possibilites. Although Perez is very much an up and coming prospect, I'd imagine JB looking forward to next season without a team mate who seemed to get more than his fair share of attention and resources.

There's a quote in the BBC article that Peter Sauber was open to the idea of "schu'da gone to" getting a seat for next season if he became available. Apparently Sauber are already thinking of expanding their bodywork spares department......

But that's the thing, Pete: Lewis's fanboys are always griping about Jenson getting more than his fair share.

I suspect the reality is that they truly are treated as equitably as possible. Alonso found that out!

Love the comment about Sauber Parts Dept .......

I suppose my perception is because Lewis is more of a 'celeb' and thus more in the media. I've no doubt they get/got the same treatment actually, it's probably why Lewis has moved. (as did Alonso). Jenson gets his head down and gets on with his job and his life. I don't think it's in his nature to carp and complain a lot.

He will certainly not be complaining about where Lewis is going as Jenson already has sampled what is there
