Most amusing watching the engineers trying to work out who the lost drive shaft belongs to after the race :D

I missed that bit.

Gosh, wasn't Lewis talkative today? Lee had trouble shutting him up.

Romain Grosjean has been given a one-race ban for the Spa start crash with Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso and others

Well he deserves it - but I still think Grosjean is the real deal and let's hope he grows as the result.

As it was, I stood up and clapped when Alonso got out of the car - I believe he may have already been measured up for a Brown Race Suit and some Bicycle Clips for Monza.

Yes, agreed on both counts about Big John, I didn't realise he'd been involved in seven other race start incidents so it's only fair. Does the ban affect the team as well? I.E. do they just field one car next race or are they allowed to use their test driver for the second car?

I was relieved to see Alonso exiting his car too. I'm not one of his biggest fans but there's an interview with him on the BBC website about the crash and his comments are very balanced, fair and mature.

They say their test driver (Ambrosia?) will be in the car - the ban only applies to Grosjean

I'd be very surprised if Ross Brawn made another mistake in hiring a Driver: The Schumacher experiment has failed miserably and was based on sentiment - to hire Hamilton would be like welcoming a poisoned chalice with open arms; The latter has much in common with Kevin Pietersen.

On the other hand, signing Paul di Resta in his place would be a great move by McLaren.

Kudos to ex F1 driver Alex Zanadi for winning a gold medal in the Paralympics hand powered bicycle competition

For those who dont know - Zanadi lost his legs in a horrible crash in 2001 - his CART car was sliced in half when it was hit by Alex Tagliani after a spin and he was lucky to live.

Dont forget if you have Grosjean in your team you need to drop him. You get a third driver this week as well - make sure you change your reserve driver for D'Ambrosia (cost 1)

Make sure you have swapped your tyres around sufficiently as well - you have to use each of the two types a minimum of 4 times. If you dont the game will alter the tyres for you in the last few races, which could leave you at a disadvantage

I thought the managers had to work this out for themselves and stay in touch with developments, is that not the whole point of this?:-doh!

Only hope the stewards and charlie deal with corner cutting at the first chicane in a fair way.
GP2 and GP3 have had numerous people cutting it at the race starts...although to be fair most of them have dropped back to give places back

Well that was a bit of a tedious race. Ive never been a big fan of Monza and it woudnt bother me if it was taken off the calender.

Really?

I found it very entertaining, with lots of overtaking (much of it not DRS engendered), some doubts about whether the one-stoppers would survive ................. plus the welcome sight of the irrepressible Perez showing umpteen World Champions how it's done.

Excellent stuff.

That said, I scored 90 plus points on one team, a round ton in the other and STILL managed to lose a place!

Bonkers.

Ive just been watching Grand Prix - the Killer years on BBC4. Well worth finding on Iplayer if you havent seen it.

It reminds you just how lucky we are to have the modern era safety advances - the F1 death toll in the 60's & 70's is just awful.

Yes indeed - my first vivid recollection of F1 was the death of Jochen Rindt.

Nowadays, we have some spectacular near misses, but it's also clear that there is as much good luck in that as there is safety by design. eg Alonso still has a head.

In any kind of vehicle racing there will always be accidents caused by mechanical failure or cars touching - thats the nature of the game.

But Jackie Stewart had to campaign hard to get rid of barbed wire fencing at one of the tracks

And the large narrow strut high wing designs of the late 60's were just an accident waiting to happen. :-ohcrap

And sadly, but in relation to safety, Prof Sid Watkins has died aged 84. Sid with his F1 Safety team brought changes to F1 to make F1 and motor sports safer, and who personally helped saved the lives of many F1 drivers including Didier Pironi, Nelson Piquet, Gerhard Berger, Rubens Barrichello, Mika Hakkinen, Martin Donnelly, and Karl Wendlinger.

Hope the broadcasters acknowledge this.
