The most exciting bit was diResta getting royally rodgered by Maldo. Apart from that it was a walk in the park for Herr Vettel.

I never thought I would say this, but never thought a Spa race could ever be boring, but that one really was... there simply felt as if no-one was really racing each other at all during the whole race.... there just wasn't the "oomph" factor that has been in many other races this year.

Mind you Eau Rouge is still awesome - and thought Webs and Alonso may have tried it side by side this year!!!

It's Official ! Vettel And Ricciardo Dan’S The Man For 2014

Infiniti Red Bull Racing confirms that Daniel Ricciardo will drive for the Team in 2014, as part of a multi-year agreement between the two. As Sebastian Vettel is already confirmed for next year, this concludes the Team’s 2014 driver line-up.

Christian Horner: "It’s fantastic to confirm Daniel as the team’s race driver for 2014. He’s a very talented youngster, he’s committed, he’s got a great attitude and in the end it was a very logical choice for us to choose Daniel. He joined the Red Bull Junior Team in 2008 and we’ve seen in his junior career in Formula 3 and Renault World Series that he’s capable of winning races and championships. He’s stood out in each of these categories and we’ve followed his progress with great interest. He’s got all the attributes that are required to drive for our team: he’s got a great natural ability, he’s a good personality and a great guy to work with. Daniel knows what the team expects from him; he’ll learn quickly and it’s very much a medium to long term view that we’re taking in developing him. The seat within the team is a wonderful opportunity and I think he’s going to be a big star of the future."

What is this email I just received all about

Hello Toppers Tossers

Formula One: Online games infringement - FOWC CaseID-293290:

... "Please immediately cease use of driver and team elements, use of F1 marks in the name of the site and within the description" ...

Please check the Forum on PFF1.net for more information.

I am sorry that I have to interrupt the game now, but I cannot risk a law suit with the holder of rights.

PFF1 was always a non-commercial, free and advertising-free game that has never generated any revenue. It was always a web site operated by a Formula 1 Fan for other Formula 1 Fans. I cannot believe that there is no space for such a Fantasy Formula 1 game on the internet.

Therefore, I am going to try everything to get a permission for a fan site with a Fantasy game. But, I am not very optimistically that this plan will lead to a success. Should somebody be able to support me with these efforts, any help would be very appreciated.

However, I am afraid that this season cannot be finished any more.

I apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Kind regards
Maverick

No idea.

Just checked EMail and no similar item came forth.

Looks as if Maverick has been given warning of summat amiss and has sought to further inform some of his own Subscribers.

Having scored 117 points last time out, I shall be pi**ed off if it ends oop counting for nowt.

Further: PFF1 Login says "Game Over"

So that's it.

Or is it?

Edit: Reading further suggests F1 is a Business which is adept at disenfranchising those who support it. *uck 'em.

Ive got it too.

Well FOWC are the F1 commercial rights holders (Formula One World Championship Ltd)

Looks like they have slapped an injunction of some sorts onto Maverick for infringements of trademarks / intellectual property etc.

What a shame - if they lose sight of the fans then F1 is finished as major interest sport

From the F1 game site:

Further please be advised that FOWC currently has an exclusive worldwide interactive game products agreement with a third party, who is fully utilising these rights. This Unlicensed Game and any other use of the Formula One Elements in an Interactive game products therefore is not just an issue for us but also could compromise the licence with such third party.

Someone else has started a game and have objected....

I'm sure Maverick has quite rightly closed the fantasy league and protected himself. However having done a bit of searching this morning it's not only fantasy leagues that are coming under scrutiny but bloggers and people hosting free desktop wallpaper as well. They also look out for unauthorised use of UEFA, FIFA, Premier League and NBA content. NetResult have been emailing these warnings since 2009 seemingly. This makes interesting reading...

http://footballmedia.com/netresult-v-theoffside/

The main point is that Maverick's site is totally not for commercial gain, indeed it promotes and engenders interest (and therefore may generate income) in the highest level of motorsport. Note I'm deliberately not using any wording that might be construed as being intellectual property...

I think it is high time that the law was changed on intellectual property rights, nobody in this world has the right to stop you using the English language,

are they going to sue Wikipedia?

Looking at the website that letter seems more to be a request to stop than a a legal order, and if he didn't stop, legal action would follow so I don't blame them for pulling it
Ah well sippose its time to change the thread title to the F1 chat thread :(

Do you want to risk it? Maybe Foxtrot One chat or something they can't "own would be a good idea lol

I don't know how reliant F1 is on income from Fans as opposed to Sponsors, but they certainly seem adept at alienating the former, what with the reduction in FTA TV coverage and now the overzealous Copyright nonsense.

Perhaps those of us who own Whippets should get together and mount a Class Action against the FIA for their use of the term "Pits" !
