Hopefully we'll see another transponder launched in multistream to carry the remaining two DVB-T multiplexes (R4 and R6 - the ones carrying M6 and TF1).
Is W9 HD in those R4/R6? Can you share a channel list of thoese multiplexes?

I am not sure if there are spare space to add more channels... What is the point of having 2 copies of same channels in Fransat package and in multistream?

Yes W9 HD is on R4:

R4
M6
W9
6ter
France 5
Arte

R6
TF1
TMC
NT1
LCP
NRJ12

I guess the reason they don't use the Fransat versions is that it must be cheaper to install multistream equipment for FTA signals at all the terrestrial transmitter sites instead of equipment to decode the Fransat Viaccess streams.

On the MIS and terrestrial packages there are channels that are true and full HD such as Numero 23 and Cherie25, both are simply upscaled on TNTsat and nowhere near as crip and clear!!! TNTsat is also for individual reception, in the MIS the whole transponder is transmitted with the very same data and structure there is on the terrestrial transmitters! TNTsat could never be used for feeding the terrestrial transmitters!

Really?
I just compared bitrate for Cherie 25 11474V and 12648V. For me both are same:

Bitrate is not the only factor that determines quality! On Astra these channels are 1440X1080 upscaled and native 1920X1080 on 5W! I could post some screencaps for comparison!

You're talking about Fransat here. This does make sense though because you can buy "professional" Fransat systems which receive and decode the Fransat channels and transcode them to DVB-T multiplexes. This is for hotels/apartment blocks etc where the DVB-T over the air signal is poor.

I think these systems are fairly expensive, and as has been mentioned, using MIS means the transmitter can take the entire multistream and transmit it as DVB-T without having to process/remove/split/decrypt any of the streams. This means if the channels on the multiplex change at all, the DVB-T transmitter won't need any reconfiguration if it's just broadcasting the multistream contents without changing them.

The Fransat system transmits two multiplexes per transponder which a Fransat Pro system filters and splits into separate DVB-T multiplexes for SMATV distribution. If the configuration of the transponder changes, the Fransat Pro system would need reconfiguring I would guess, which would be difficult if you had to do that for hundreds of different DVB-T transmitters, plus this would completely break the single frequency networks widely used in France as while you were reconfiguring the transmitters they wouldn't have the same content.

And i see some changes 11512V. Added Golf Channel and some channels are gone. 12690v is also cleared of anything encrypted.

it lists "mires" which are just test pics saying "the sd transmission has stopped, get a new decoder to obtain HD"
this is in case someone not knowing runs through his "old" channels, only to find they were discontinued"

I noticed, while deleting the old SD versions, that a further two Audio Tracks have been added to the HD Channels.

Sadly, all three are Dolby+ so some of of us are still stuck without Audio.

5 now just a 'mire' here. That's the only channel lost, but got 4 instead.
The FTAs from 19e+9e+5w add up to a good F collection, can postpone getting any card+box.

A memory from France:

Do you think many people in the UK follow French TV?
Teachers of French, people who have visited France...quite a few maybe?
here "boxes" allowing online TV reception take away people from sat reception,
and Canal Plus marketing has made most people believe you ONLY get canal plus(=Sky) with a dish...including my colleagues at school
I have always enjoyed watching foreign tv...was born near Germany ,so I started with German tv

Yes, I should think plenty do.

We certainly dip in from time to time, for general interest and to help keep up our meagre French language abilities.

The advantage of getting France Quatre over Cinq is that the former has a VO soundtrack option and there's a few shows (mainly American) broadcast in the English language with it.

Today i checked Canal + in multistream during fta show and i dont understand why it is so bad quality.
And why 19.2e version is better like higher video and audio bitrate? I though this one 5w should be best one as it is not for customer broadcast but for distributors.

It is for customers! This is the exact feed people watching via DVB-T are getting (it isn't re-encoded before transmission). They're packing four HD channels plus two MPEG4 SD channels into 24.9Mbps.

The whole input from the multistream is fed into the DVB-T transmitters in France - all that the transmitter does is modulate a UHF DVB-T transmission. The actual video, audio and other data within the transport stream is not changed.

I wonder why transponders R4 and R6 have not moved to MIS yet, what's the point of keeping the Newtec transmissions when most of the channels are in MIS now?
