Better user interface by far than most generic boxes (if you choose the right image).

I agree - once you learn E2 - every other box is so basic in comparison. There are exceptions of course in terms of what they can deliver, the recent GT Media box is an example, other than that - they'll a much of a muchness. Recording to a NAS on your LAN is a big win for me, and only E2 boxes have that functionality (AFAIK)

I can't understand why someone would not want to use an E2 box. These days they are well cheap. e.g. Zgemma H9sse at around 65€. And high spec twin tuner Amiko model from less than 100€. And configuration as simple as non-enigma2 box.

it seems all too complicated...how long/how widely used will multistream ever be?
& I m not even sure I can receive the Italian one,(the new transalpine) which would add rai 4 ,5 maybe a few nice Sicilian,Sardinian regional ones
And the GT Media/combo thread tells me it 's a very uncertain story...
I don t feel ready for the Linux adventure ,just for uncertain Italian channels,
since most Rai are on Hotbird and HD,I'd be doing it for just a few channels,
well UNLESS UK or Germany suddenly opt for multistream...likely?or not?
I get the French bunch as...I'm in france ,so...multistream for which channels?
Or,am I wrong?
Just to confirm that I can receive all the RAI (HD too) multi streams you mention on 5W including RAI 4,5 and Sicilian and Sardinian channels. I’m using a TM5402 M4 to tune them. I noticed Sport Italia was mentioned which I’m receiving too. If you need any more checked let me know.

My question is ,
will Multistream remain an Italian (and French to some extent) speciality,
or is it going to become THE NORM for the UK,Germany,Spain...?
in which case we'll all need it?

However a TM5402 M4 looks interesting to me...

It won't become 'the norm' for consumer satellite reception, its main use it to feed domestic DTT networks. Terrestrial broadcasting is already in danger from 4G/5G mobile operators demanding more bandwidth. BTW Spain already uses it (with encryption).

So,multistream reception is mainly for Italophiles I gather
and,if I lived in the UK or elsewhere I'd use them for french TV as well
.

As for Spain, 19E +13E give a good selection,TVE/TVE24(13E)
and some regional & cuba & venezuela(19E) are a good selection.
When the monoblock comes handy!
Strange that Mexico remains invisible.

Does that mean we are allowed to suggest possible sources of hardware?

Because we are self-Sponsoring, ergo there is no such other site
And that’s the beauty of this forum unlike others who use their forum as a sales vehicle. Good independent knowledgeable advice is all you’re likely to buy into here.

I've now got one of these receivers. It's giving me pretty much what I want as I also have a Fransat card working in it. However I am struggling to get UPNP to work on the box. These receivers have Twonky Media Server built in. All I can see is the folders for video, live TV etc on a upnp client but with the message "Access denied". Has anyone got upnp to work on these boxes, and if so, what settings did you use?

Does it work if you remove the Fransat CAM & card?
