Actually I could probably help you, but I have comitments up till Saturday at the moment, unless there is a cancellation. I'll do some homewoek tonight on the footprints though, just in case this is just more than the dish under performing.

Even if you can help after saturday its a big help before i go and buy a 2.4M offset dish.

My 1.8M pulls in Ad Sports HD... this doesnt get a sniff!

Is it worth a punt for the very cheap but people have had it working in the past 2.4m Forecstar @£190???

I will get the 2.4M 2 piece dish if this fails :(

Jeez I can't believe it.A 1.8m dish outperforming a 2.4m dish.Ok I understand that the LNB is quite specialised and as such is not directly matched up for the dish.Does this bring the debate of the prime focus v offset dish back into the arena. With what you were achieving on your own last night I thought the meterman would have nailed it for you this morning.I am feeling your pain as I write. As I stated in your other post today the offer from Sateuropa of a Tring card at £285 for the year on 16 e with a 70cm dish would be a killer if it lasted the season. On the plus side you have now gained some serious experience on large dish installation which other members of this forum would kill for.I am looking out for an Andrews 2.4m dish for you here in Ireland. If I spot anything I will let you know straight away.Keep the faith.

Thank you mate appreciate it!

Got to be one out there somewhere :(

I have a tring + card already and its active so its a solution

if you have plenty a time on your hands why not hire a van and nip across the chanel for a famaval 2.4..and buy the add on petals to make it 3m just for good measure...it would still be cheaper than the andrews, and i,m sure a spanish member can source u one!!..you could be on a ferry tonight..lol..

Unfortunately time is now against me... however if spain dish quality is actually decent its an option.

My only worry is, are these solid dishes? If so, thats one BIG van!!

I am still at a loss to know how a 2.4m dish was performing worse than a 1.8m dish.Would be interesting to hear rolfw's spin on how things panned out.Everything looked fine as per posts.Even the dogs b++++++s of an LNB was employed. Is it possible that it was the fault of the dish.I assume from the posts it was assembled correctly and the "string test" verified that.We need an autopsy and full report on this one after all the time garyg invested in this project.

well the reflective surface is there and you have strung the dish so it has to be the lnb mount!!!
its a bit extreme just going out and buying another dish when you have a good one already..
we know the dish is andrews so why not try and contact them to get a matched mount/lnb??

I will try see if they do a matched lnb/feedhorn/mount

But time is against me now! I need the games as people know and season starts Saturday.

I cannot get a 2.4M 2 piece dish until september (1st week).

So I have until then to try get this working

I know you rate them mate but i would rather wait until I can get a channel master 2.4M 2 piece as I know for a fact these perform very very well. Also my local maplins does not stock the 2.4M dish either.

With some help from channel hopper (if its ok) He might get mine firing anyway! It may just need alot more tweaking yet. I have until early september before I can get a CM 2.4M so... We will see

garyg.Just one last observation. If I am right in assuming EPL will be available on BADR 26e and Nilesat 7w.I assume you tried aligning to both this morning before you gave up the ghost.Purely just a long shot.

its on 7.2W AB4A, not even a 3m in UK would pull that in :(

You got to remember my 1.8M was pulling in BADR 26E for AD Sports... So there is some serious issues with my 2.5M :(

also gary it appears there is 3 different sizes of scaler rings for these feedhorns...the smallest will have 4 circular rings inside with the largest having 7 rings...the larger scaler ring will illuminate a larger area, and iceman used a larger 1 on his 3.7m dish and got better reception than the 4ring scaler...i would like to try the larger 1 on my dish but am having trouble finding anyone who stocks these....in the uk sat shops just send you a 4 ring scaler...

I understand garyg but remember your 1.8m was offset this one is prime focus. It was just a thought. From whats coming back it probably is your feedhorn thats at issue.Seems a shame to go off buying a channel master 2.4m before you exhaust all avenues. As you said you have your 1.8m dish, your tring card so you have the bases covered. It would be nice to see you succeed with your current 2.5m dish. This is the challenge and while you are experimenting you still have alternatives to watch the EPL.Those 2.5m CMs aint cheap.

The problem is i NEED every game.

Aslong as tring showes the football i should be ok between tring and viasat.

as for the 2.5M, I will try contact channel master directly. Does anyone have there contact details?

I have contacted channel master directly for a feedhorn recommended for this dish, I am waiting for an email back.

Also, that large adjustable feedhorn... I cant find it ANYWHERE!!

Nah, the increased number of rings may help where the dish is out of shape, but yours isn't
.
This is more about the main assembly being at fault, either one of the panels is deaf (distortion within the metal reflector inside) or the feed itself isn't where it should be.

Once Rolf comes online I'll have a chat with him, see what he has eliminated from the equation.
