Well I just did some quick calculations and my situation is not much different from south west Ireland. Taking Oslo as the beam centre:

Alicante, Spain.
Great circle distance: 2677km
Off axis: 2.6º

Kerry, Ireland.
Great circle distance: 1922km
Off axis: 2.6º

So looks like at least a 1.5m dish needed.

Theres a lot of variation in the Nordic beam - its terrible here on some frequencies - I rarely ever get to see the NRK channels on 12015 fore example, but the SVT stuff is a reasonably easy catch. (85cm Penta dish)

That's because NRK is 5/6 and SVT is 3/4. That equates to at least one dish size (150cm -> 180cm).

That size dish will break that motor even the channel master 1.2m dish is pushing it.

only way to motorise the 1.8 is with a polar mount and heavy duty actuator.

I am in dublin and on a clear day i recieve most nordic beam verticals but not horizontals on a triax 1.1 with inverto black ultra single the 1.8 meter cm dish gain is far superior so id say u have a very good chance of getting a reliable signal

The signal usually drops completely after 4pm but earlier 11747 v with viasat pl was at 55 % on a tm 6900 picture breakup is at 46% for that transponder other tps i usually get are 11862 v 11823 v 11900 v 11785 v 11938 v 12054 v 12092 v all are between 46-50% i dnt get any hd tps as they are in dvbs2 they are more difficult to lock but id say u have a good chance on ur 1.8 m with either the black ultra single or proper channel master feedhorn and lnb

I've a 3inch pole set in concrete, it's going to have to work, I'll make it work some how, can't get my hands on a 3inch az-el mount for the 1.8m and satellite superstore want stupid money
