Spooky or what - during first practise today Grosjean crashed the Renault at the same spot that Piquet deliberately wrecked last year!

What was even spookier was that the commentator predicted that could happen 10 minutes before it actually happened

Yes, the reds are basically a one-man outfit at the moment, but Raikkonen was so bad it was unreal - how can he possibly expect to keep his seat*?

Brawn's troubles are a combonation of poor luck, poor judgement and uncharacteristically poor driving from both Rubens and Jenson. Hamilton has to be hot favourite to win now, especially with it being a street circuit.

* This does not preclude the possibility that Kimi isn't even trying to save himself.

Hot from F1.com

Rubens Barrichello may indirectly have helped Lewis Hamilton to pole position for the Singapore Grand Prix on Saturday evening. The world champion had lapped his McLaren in 1m 47.891s on his first run in the final qualifying session, when the Brazilian crashed his Brawn in Turn 5 on his second and final run. As the red flag came out, everyone behind Hamilton, from Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel and Williams' Nico Rosberg back, had reasoned to feel chagrined...

[fieldset=Hamilton wins in Singapore, Button edges closer to title] Hot from F1.com

Lewis Hamilton sorely wanted to win in Singapore after his slip up at Monza, and on Sunday evening he drove a pluperfect race for McLaren to deliver a richly deserved triumph. Behind him Jenson Button increased his world championship points lead by one point over Brawn team mate Rubens Barrichello as they finished fifth and sixth, but the final podium places were far beyond them. They fell to Timo Glock, who drove superbly on a great pit stop strategy from Toyota, and Fernando Alonso, who was in feisty form...

F1 SupaLiga 2009

Lewis Hamilton made up for his last lap crash in Italy by winning under the street lights of Singapore. The champion was dominant in the night race, starting on pole and never looking under threat in a revitalised McLaren car. The big news, however, was the battle between the Brawn GP boys for the title, as Jenson Button finished one place ahead of Ruben Barrichello in 5th - Button can now win the championship in Japan by scoring 5 points or more than Rubens next weekend. Timo Glock impressively took 2nd tonight for Toyota, while Fernando Alonso brought an end to a fortnight to forget for Renault with 3rd.

A disasterous selection of Barrichello and various Brawn GP elements has seen my team, Auto-Dynamo, slip from 1st to 2nd as Norm's F1 Aberdeen take the top spot in F1 SupaLiga for the first time since last season's European Grand Prix. A mighty 156pts tonight means that F1 Aberdeen now have a 25pt advantage over my Dynamos, and the 2007 golden boy Norm is now favourite for the league title with three races remaining.

Champion Team Oily scored 149pts to return to 4th place and mount an end-of-season chase for 3rd place alongside Topper and his Tossers (124pts this race). Current occupant of 3rd and a 2010 PFF1 Cup place, BTTR, had another sub-century performance tonight and manager Dazdazdazzy must rediscover his early season form if he is not to lose his place in the closing rounds of the year.

Also doing well this Grand Prix was linhas, who achieved his best result of the season so far with 148pts, while kreacher hit 146pts with the Creatures and now sit in 8th. And finally, kleefar and his Honda-Williams team are the new leaders in the chase for the Asia & Americas Cup, accumulating 736pts thus far including 131 in Singapore, but competition for this Cup is still red hot across SupaLiga.

Sutil has been fine $20,000 for demolishing Heidfeld's suspension after he spun.

Amazingly this was Nick's first DNF in 35 races!

[fieldset=Dominant Japanese win keeps Vettel in the title hunt] Hot from F1.com

Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel brought his world championship hopes alive again with a superb victory in Japan on Sunday afternoon, winning as he pleased and leading Jarno Trulli's Toyota home by 4.8s despite a late safety car intervention. Lewis Hamilton was third for McLaren, another 1.5s adrift, after losing out to Trulli in the second pit stops. Seventh for Rubens Barrichello, just ahead of Brawn team mate Jenson Button, leaves the points table as Button 85, Barrichello 71, Vettel 69 with two races remaining...

F1 SupaLiga 2009

attachment.php

Full table and graph attached

Despite much drama in qualifying, resulting in Sebastian Vettel getting pole and the Brawns dropping down the grid due to penalties, the race itself was disappointingly dull. Vettel was masteRful in his drive and deservedly won, but Lewis Hamilton was never able to trully challenge in the early stages and the Brit eventually fell behind Jarno Trulli to end in 3rd. Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button finished 7th and 8th, so the battle for the championship remains unresolved although Jenson will have to suffer a disaster to lose it now with just two races to go.

Like the race, nothing much immediately amazing happened in SupaLiga, although the scene is now set for the concluding GP's of the season and the title is almost decided.

Norm is almost certain to win the league for a second time as a third straight top score today, 156pts, means F1 Aberdeen are now 57pts clear from my Auto-Dynamo team in 2nd.

While my position should be secure at least for an PFF1 Cup place, if not 2nd place, Dazzy's entry to the Cup and a 3rd place finish is by no means likely in his current form. BTTR took away 134pts in Japan, a marked improved on recent performances, but the chasing pair of the Tossers and Team Oily are making ground and Topper's team could well overtake BTTR in Brazil. Topper and Oily swapped positions again today, with scores of 156pts and 146pts respectively.

misterminibus is the new leader in the march for the Asia & Americas Cup, as Pro-Drive go ahead of kleefarr's Honda-Williams by 3 with 861pts.

I think you guys are jumping the gun a bit here - there are still two races left! I have just looked back this thread and two races ago, my team was 22 points behind the then leader, Auto-Dynamo. My lead probably looks quite substantial but a minor disaster in the next race - like my two drivers tangling (actually that would probably constitute a major disaster!) - could easily change that.

So the message has to be - don't give up. Think of that fat lady!

I'll put it this way, Norm - if you fail to win the league, it will the single most amazing turn of events in SupaLiga history.

I do hope you are not fitting (in the medical sense) but agree with Salty, it would take an extraordinary set of circumstances for someone to close that gap
