I am willing to offer my services as a deal broker (on a commission only basis) for any interested parties. I also have a contact with a troupe of traditional Normandy pitchfork dancers. (Like pole dancing but you stick the pitchfork in the ground) They'll work for a bale of hay and a bottle of Calvados. All guaranteed over 70 years old (the dancers, not the Calvados)

Ok, AS up one place after the first semi. It therefore follows that a brown envelope, "stuffed" with purple notes changed hands. No one took up my offer of aged pole dancers. I know where I'm not wanted. I'll resign myself to lingering around the bottom of the table.

Ive gone up two places so pazinho & tanman have obviously taken up the Glorious Leaders generous offer :D

Their wallets are now full of slightly damp 5000 won banknotes still soggy from the printer ink!

The former. An Eastern European invasion has yet to happen here.

Im off on holiday this weekend and by the time I get back the WC will be long over. So whilst Im still around I hope everyone has had as much fun as I have had. Thanks to Salty for running the game and to everyone for a nice close competition. I know Im never going to win one of these fantasy leagues, but I enjoy the banter on the threads.

I hope Ive given everyone a few smiles with my Glorious Leader comments whilst running the North Korean team Ive certainly had a laugh with it what with the somewhat outlandish ideas Ive come up with. :) :D

Spain re-established themselves as the favourite with a masterfully hard-fought 1-0 win over a determined Germany side who badly missed young Thomas Muller in attack. Joining Spain in the final at Soccer City are the Netherlands following their victory over Uruguay, ending 3-2 with Gio Van Bronkhorst's opening belter setting the world alight and probably taking most 'Goal of the World Cup' awards.

Although aamir007's lead has been trimmed, it will be a major shock now if his Spanish team do not now win the competition. Norm and Italy will be hoping for a miracle.

john_graydon's Brazil are looking good for 3rd place, but will have to continue their good run to hold off the chasing pack of my English lions and kreacher's Germany. Analoguesat still holds a faint hope of a top 3 finish with North Korea, but the glorious nation will first have to make sure there are not caught by pazinho and tanman's Uruguay and Netherlands, tying as they do on 444pts.

B16MCC (Cameroon) and Oily (USA) are making late runs for the top 10 with fantastic Semi Final performances from both catching the attention of Blatherskite and his Argentina side.

Well done aamir. Like Oily my talents seem to lie with four wheels, not two feet (which having ended up 17th in the table are obviously both left)

Well done to the winner - winning the league and choosing Spain as the name of your team; is that an unfair advantage? Are you in cahoots with Paul the octopus?

SPAIN are the champions of the world, dimissing the dirty, negative challenge of the Dutch to win the final at Soccer City by one goal to nil, Andres Iniesta with the winner. Spain becomce the first European nation to win football's greatest prize outside Europe and only the third to hold the World and European titles simultaneously. Every one of Spain's eight goals in South Africa was scored by Barcelona players, yet Madrid daily Marca still claimed Real Madrid's Iker Casillas to be the hero of the nation!

Like the real team, aamir007's Spain claimed the SupaLiga World Cup crown, having dominated this tournament from the start. Surely this will be the launch pad for a Premier League challenge.

Norm ultimately finished in 2nd, as he did in Euro 2008, but his hopes were realistically over much earlier this time with Italy. Taking bronze with a rally in the latter stages is john_graydon with his boys from Brazil. The northern European giants of England (Salty25), Germany (kreacher) and Netherlands (pazinho) finished tightly packed in 4th, 5th and 6th respectively. Blatherskite, formerly malcolm, can walk the street of Buenos Aires safely again after recovering Argentina to end in 7th and just shy of 500pts. S_G, winner of Euro 2008, could only guide Nigeria to 8th.

And what of the glorious nation? Perhaps Analoguesat should reconsider his plans to visit Pyongyang anytime soon. North Korea completed the Cup in 9th, Kim will not be impressed!
