Which image version did you download?
Code:
https://images.openbh.net/?b=5.3%2Foctagon%2Fsf8008

The first one should be the one to flash the image onto your receivers flash memory, and has the octagon folder, and the sf8008 sub folder. The second is for recovery.

First try loading the octagon folder, on your freshly FAT 32 formatted USB stick, and try USB update option.
Please post back with updates.
I tried to format my usb stick to fat32 as suggested but it seems that doesn't work. I would like to ask if I can purchase a Amazon usb stick 3.0 with a Fat32 already in its format or a usb 2.0 ? Many thanks

can you not hook it up to wired network, (with DHCP) - you can then do a NETWORK IMAGE UPGRADE

I cannot even open my internet connection on it as I accidentally did a factory reset and there is all in German and I don't have a clue to set up it. When I turned on the first time is was on English but now somehow I don't know if is connected at all. So ,.why we cannot find any forum regarding to factory reset and all the rest of it? I probably expect that if do manage to flash an image with all the requirements and the help of you , I will succeed in this hard task ( for me as new in this field) thanks a lot...

if you plug a network cable into the back (cable from your router to the satellite recevier), and then goto the (recovery) menu you're in, you will be able to flash an image of your choice (there are plenty to choose from, i use VIX) via your network, using network image option. (assuming your router issues devices a DHCP address)

Do you have a PC, or Mac computer?
I generally find the early, cheaper USB sticks work best, but my receiver is an early VU+ Duo2.
If you put your USB stick, into a PC, or laptop, running Windows, go into the file menu, by opening This PC, Documents, etc, you should see your USB stick displayed, right click on this select Format, and the FAT32 option.
Then load the octagon folder onto this.

To find your receivers IP Address you could use DCC, Dreambox Control Centre, and use the search option, this is also in German, but has the option to select English, but Suchen, Suche, and Search are close enough.

Those screen shots have nothing to do with the image, they are from trying to install an image, from the USB stick, if you look at post #16 you'll see this image:

Can you try the original USB stick, and delete what is currently onit, and load the octagon folder onto it?

Hello everyone! warmest regards to you all...over the years this "addictive" satellite hobby has taught us some few things...
One needs to have at least 2STBs ,a satellite tracker, additional Lnbs (some for testing)
Additional lnb to check for faults,
Additional stb to reduce the stress on you if there is a fault.. the additional box could be a cheap chinabox also for testing purposes..

Good morning! An update on my saga...
Yesterday I managed Octagon to come back in English, I followed the guidance given a fewnweekes ago.
I don't know if I still need to download the images that you guys said. I tried Updating through the software update menu but the system is nothing to update.
On flash online, there 3 choices :
+7.3 current, +7.2 EOL and + 6.4 EOL
So, when, I go to distribution appears several places where I can choose. Obviously, I sow the one that was suggested by you. Do I need to try it as it in web say it is a newest version?
Thanks

You might as well stick with OpenATV, for now, as they are all similar.
You could choose OpenVix, or OpenBH, which are similar, and appear to be the most popular.

Now that you're back to an English menu, you can go into setup, tuners and set up your Tuner motor and enter your latitude, and longitude.

Can you please post the make/model of your satellite meter?
Personally I just use a cheap, standard, meter:
sat meter.jpg
The one advantage, with these cheap meters, is that it lights up, if everything is working, if not then there are only a few things, that can be wrong, Cable Connections, broken cable, dead LNB or dead motor.
F Connector.jpg

If you have easy access, to your dish, you could try a new cable connection, direct from your receiver to LNB, bypassing the motor, or try a replacement LNB.
Once you post details, of your satellite meter, then other owners, of that meter, should be able to provide advice.
