Well despite the building work at our back fence we still have many 'guests' for meals throughout the day

Nice, not so sure about the rat though.:) Think we have one just started appearing, hopefully the neighbour's cat will get it.

That is nothing, we had a family of four but I have trapped three in five days since the snow arrived, (the photo is from last week before the snow) the whole family were grubbing around, even climbing the bamboo and leaping onto the bird feeder after I put anti-climb paint on the feeder pole I thought I had the last one yesterday in the cage however a hungry blackbird had tripped it. It was unharmed when I released it but boy did it tell me off when I released it.

It was a beautiful sunny day Monday, the skies were clear, the sun and moon were out and the birds were enjoying spiralling into the sky on the updraft, possibly only for one day but spring had sprung and mother nature knew it

I think they are just pleased to break surface after the slightly chilly (catastrophic freeze, for our Southern friends) weather of the past few weeks.

Frog mature content

I've just set up the wildlife cam onto the pond , not because the frogs have commenced with their shenanians but I want to check on what has been eating the spawn for the past three years, or if it just disappears naturally. I suspect a fox (or foxes) since there were footprints on the side of the pond that amasses the most about this time of year but not been able to confirm where it goes.

Expect a few explicit images in the next few days.

Went for two walks yesterday it was such a beautiful warm day, one to Alston Wetlands, where there were 80 curlews gathered and the other was Brockholes Wetlands by the River Ribble, just a few snaps from both

Went a seven-mile walk in the sunshine yesterday with friends around Rivington and Anglezarke Reservoirs. Rivington was the lowest I have seen in many years. As we walked around we realized the reason was a survey going on on the wash ways hence the low level. They had topography scanners in operation also ground penetrating radar units surveying the foundations under the link bridges. The giant needles in picture 1 are for catching fallen trees before they exit down the washway

Six mile walk today along Belmont Reservoir, amazing to see the parachutes using the updraft near Winter Hill transmitter, Belmont is one of the few reservoirs where sailing is allowed, plenty of wildlife around, the landscape looks barren after just a couple of days sunshine. In the centre of the reservoir is an island which has become an oversubscribed breeding ground

A neighbour had a few rotting logs in the back garden plus a dwarf apple tree that died around two years ago, and required help in clearing.

So, I've taken the stump and others back home to nurture what came out in the existing log-pile at the back of the shed. Hopefully they will survive.
