We have a nice new camera on the Sheffield Peregrines, she is in the scrape at the time of posting, they have been seen mating and it should not be long before she's lays her first egg,

The Female is at the box at the time of posting, they can/will fly at night.

New mouse trap and bird scarer,

I have just been watching this sparrow hawk in my garden, it appears he is looking for the mice under the bird table along with any little bird that fly's by, he spent around half hour moving from posts to tree with a few unsuccessful hunts, best I can do with the camera I have.

Beautiful birds, but I'd prefer if they fed in places other than my garden, it's bad enough with a plague of local cats.

That reminds me - one of the sightings sadly not captured on camera during our recent Howgills trip was Willow Grouse. Never seen them before. A handsome male rose from the boggy tufts as we were out walking one day and a few days later we saw a group of several females.

The wife spotted this pheasant today going onto a garden a few doors down, I live in a built up village and its unusual round here but welcoming to see,

You should come here, Martin: Pheasant are a blessed nuisance. They are raised and fed wild (Ready for being expensively shot by City types with too much money) and squawk incessantly in people's gardens and stand around looking gormless in the middle of the road causing an obstruction or, if startled, simply run down the roads right in front of you.

Townies treat is Countryman's nightmare!

Yes I see them all the time G whilst out metal detecting in and around gardens in less built up areas, but its the first I've seen one on someone's garden round here in all my 47 yrs.
