Very pretty, Timo! What's the town in the distance?
It's roads leading to the back of the Ruka ski resort and a few log cabins. They've just changed to street lights to bright orange sodium ones as required under new EU rules and they are quite bright on the snow covered streets.

Just in the process of getting rid of all the sodium street lights around here, too expensive to run

These are the newer HP sodium type but it is annoying that they haven't fitted many LED lights here. The old street lights where mercury based and gave a nice bluish-white light that suited the white snow. Now at night the snow turns into a piss stained sodium yellow...

Keep your eyes on the skies tonight, the strongest geomagnetic storm of the current solar cycle is underway. Seen some good stuff already, it's so widespread it's hard to know where to look. Will post pics later.

Edit: Here's a couple of early shots before the sky was fully dark. Hoping it'll become more active again later on.

That's a lump of snow in the tree lit up by street lights in the pic above, not a squidgy moon.

Well the birds were happy when I filled the feeder up on Tuesday upon my return home, even the woodie had a good scavenge on the floor for crumbs and two robins have taken up residence.

I popped out metal detecting this afternoon and called in to see a farmer who's become a friend, the geese and sheep are his pets, the calves are a different story.

And the forecast is 13cm new snow on thursday, no wonder they have downy protection.

Hi I popped out metal detecting this morning, one of my farmers feeds the wild birds, I have permission to drive round the farm land and park where I want within reason, I always drive and sit and watch the birds whilst having a bite to eat,

This morning it was raining so I headed for my favourite spot by the feed station, its very busy, he has been feeding them for the past 30 yrs :),

Here's a few shots I took, I did a few seconds of video to show how busy the feed station is, I will post it up shortly:).

I am going to get a new camera this week if £250/300 is enough for something to suit my needs, the one I am using atm is no good for distance, but not too bad for macro, I need a combination of both, I will ask for advice in a new thread :).
