Have you considered digiscoping?

Thanks battenfan, I did not know it existed until your post, it looks a bit bulky for me :( but thanks for the suggestion:) , my problem lies with the cheap camera, spending around £300 should sort the problem out for the time being until I want better again,

When my summer house is finished I will be 15ft closer to my bird feeders that should help with this particular camera, I also need good macro for my metal detecting finds, and I would like to get more into macro pictures at some point, I love Rolfs picture, but unfortunately I think this camera would struggle if a bee/wasp was flying in, a few macros taken this morning.

I've tried digiscoping, but not found it too successful, although I've seen some people getting pretty impressive results from it. The knack is finding a decent very quickly attachable camera/phone bracket.
