Lets hope the KU side of this lnb performs well on weak signals, I have my doubts, but time will tell :)

Dont throw in the towel until we know for sure Chris..
Do you only have one cable going to the dish ...?
And presumably you have more than one lnb on the dish ?
A diagram would be helpful if you want to knock up a quickie in paint ...
much easier to see in a viaual ..than descriptive ..

Something like this is also useful..

Receiver >diseqc 1.o - (4 port) (port 1) > diseqc 1.1 (8 port) (port 2) > Ku lnb

Receiver >diseqc 1.o - (4 port) (port 1) > diseqc 1.1 (8 port) (port 1) > KaA lnb

Receiver >diseqc 1.o - (4 port) (port 2) > CB lnb

Speaking of Towels ..
always know where _yours_ is ..
Towel
I won't give up just yet:) cable diagram.

So I assume your 8 port 1.1 switch is outside on the dish ...
??
Certainly the BBC can be put in line on one of the 1.1 ports without pulling more current through it than it can handle ..
I know this because I do just that...
Problem is though that its function does suffer the further it is from the receiver ..
So I can see why you would not simply pop it on one of the spare 1.1 ports ..
But ..if you ever get hold of a Norsat 9200 KaA lnb ..your need for the SL3 to function in KaA vanishes (at least in 1 polarity- 2 needed and an OMT for full dual polarity) ..along with the need for a BBC..
Fingers crossed you soon find a 9200 Chris.

I am bidding on a 9200 at the moment. My plan was to get 2 9200's do away with the bbc, and use the other cable for my scanner aerial. As I did before the direct tv lnb.

Well ..fingers crossed for you mate ..
Having 2 of them with an OMT would require 2 ports used on the diseqc 1.1 switch ...and sadly this would have to remain outside on account of you only having only one available cable run once your other returns to scanner duties..
I have my 16 port diseqc 1.1 switch indoors ..which is always preferable.
But then I do have at least six cables to Carl ...
This still isn't enough however for full control of all lnbs ..so some are re-used where possible.
For example the 2 single polarity lnbs on the KaA OMT ...
One for H and One for V ..but using only one cable and treating the whole assembly as one lnb ..
Enter the 13/18V switch which can select H or V polarity on one cable after the 1.1 switch and this is of course external at the dish.
Difficult to get hold of I had Costa help me get a couple ..but since then found them on aliexpress so ordered a couple more..
Along with a few 22khz switches (also tricky to get) ..
These of course can also be placed outside on a single cable run ...but only useful for anything not Ku ..
eg ...kaD KaC switching ..

A few things for me to think about there. If I get a chance later I might try the bbc outside first.

The switch outside is an amiko premium D-10/1 diseqc 1.1

I've used Amiko 8/1 switches with the BBC in line before ..and successfully ...along with Gecen 8/1 swiches ...but not the 10/1 version ..but I assume it would be ok ..

btw the Gecen 16/1 is superb with overload and s/c protection built in ...but difficult to obtain ..
again aliexpress is your friend here should you want one ..but they are not cheap ..
I think I paid around £60 including delivery ..and one of the best purchases I ever made ..
the losses being very acceptable...and requiring less cascading and cabling..

You can try the BBC outside, I tried mine and it was not good, ended up putting it back inside. Mind you I have about a 40 metre cable run. With using the Hughes now that problem vanished. I hope you get yours Chris, everything crossed!

My total cable run is about 22 meters.

The lnb still has 1 day 10 hours to go.

Fingers crossed.

Mine arrived yesterday , this morning i removed the lnb changer and fitted the KAKUO lnb on a original Fibo feedarm .
The F conn. interferes with the feedarm , so cant adjust the skew correctly , but will change that wenn the KAKUO is attached to the lnb changer .
Did a blindscan at 7º E (14 ch) and 16º E (4 ch + feeds) signal up to 13.7 dB

Wouldn't you think they might have posted them together ?
But that assumes they ever actually received them ..rather than just forwarded and processed the orders like a middle man..
Just out of curiosity Chris ..
How much time between the 2 orders when they were placed ?

I placed my order about 12ish and ordered yours about 5ish.
I find it strange than that they didn't arrive together since both ordered on the same day ..
...and here's me thinking German efficiency would be factor.
Perhaps they are simply processed in a Q ..and mine technically was processed the following day.
??
cheers buddy
