It looks as though someone has been working to restore ITN NEWSNET on 18557H. Its just receivable here showing colour bars with a rolling clock and ITN 1080i50 in the middle.

It's been like that for a while Simon, sometimes just a black screen too..

Iv'e seen a very low level signal at 18559.5 V for a long time now, but never as high in strength as just now.... reaches 9dB at times.
CrazyScan does not pick up on it and the analyser just sees the carrier.

I can see that clearly on my Promax too John. I'll see if IQ Monitor can pick it out to (if I remember how to set it up )

Glad you said that Llew, after a while you start thinking that it might be a sproggie creeping into the analyser from something .

Did you get any info from the "Measurement" screens of the Promax such as SR, FEC and Modulation?
I am not strapped up for Ka at the moment otherwise I would have had a sniff at it with the 1.5m Precision dish.

Probably need to hunt out the Hughes LNB and get strapped up if it is something interesting?

Glad you said that Llew, after a while you start thinking that it might be a sproggie creeping into the analyser from something .

Seems comparable in strength to the ones it's between. I'm sure it must be part of the Newsnet concern considering its positioning there.

Good point. I can't recall seeing any info from it, It's likely too weak to show anything.

The Promax didn't lock on to it,, even though it was the same strength as Newsnet next to it which did open ok ... so no info gathered..

It is much weaker now (or I'm out of the beam). For reference, I'm getting about 10.8dB SNR on 18557 at the moment. Looking at it, I remember checking a couple of years ago as did @John Newsnet on Ka Band A .

The reason it won't lock is that it is discontinuous. The period is about 125ms with the signal off for about 7.5ms.

Thanks s-band, yes, it dropped to the normal very low state shortly afterward.
