My Satellite Setup
Primary Dish: 3.65m KTI satellite dish, Eurostar KU band LNB, 2 Humax MPEG4 HD receivers

Secondary Dish: 2.4m satellite dish, C band LNB
My Location
Northern Tanzania
Greetings, my first on this forum, looking to clarify a few issues and gain some assistance if possible. I'm posting in this thread because i require clarification with regards to this specific satellite but please bear in mind i'm not too clued up so require patience and detailed explanations.Greetings, I live in Northern Tanzania and currently have two satellite dishes. The main one is a 3.65m KTI dish, with a Eurostar KU band LNB connected to 2 Humax MPEG4 HD receivers, one for the sitting room and another for the bedroom. This dish has been set to approximately 7.0 degrees west (although i am not entirely sure it is at exactly 7.0 degrees west seeing as it was the technicians who fixed the position).Anyways i use the following site and input the frequencies manually, along with the symbol rate etc.

_http://www.lyngsat.com/nile.html

The issue which arises now is that from that website, almost all the channels within the MENA beam i get a strong signal except for the MENA beams near the bottom of the page (specifically starting at frequency 12341) where the signal can be as low as 35% i.e. you pretty much can't watch anything with the stuttering. With regards to the middle east beams i can't get any of them to work except for one, the frequency at 11785 where i can access to Dubai One, Music plus etc.Because of this situation, i have had to fix another satellite dish, a C band LNB 2.4m dish simply to access Abu Dhabi Al Oula and a few others like Ethiopia, this is frustrating to no end, simply because i don't like fixing a satellite for the purpose of one channel.1) Ideally i would like to be able to access Abu Dhabi Al Oula, Abu Dhabi Poet and all the other non-sports related Abu Dhabi channels and the middle east beam on my 3.65m dish, leaving the 2.4m dish to be readjusted for access to local East African channels. 2) Additionally i would like to strengthen the signals for Al-Jazeera Sports, Abu Dhabi Sports, and Dubai One, Music Plus et al where the signal is very watchable but still fluctuates from 45-55% and worries me if a rainstorm were to occur. For the above two to happen what is needed to achieve this? Is it a case of needing to purchase a satellite dish with a bigger diameter? Or Perhaps there is another type of LNB which is stronger and more desirable? Perhaps i just need to play around with the location of the dish so it is exactly at 7.0 west? or improve wiring to improve signal quality? Or is this all simply a case of the impossible due to the footprints of the middle east beam? If this is the case how am i able to gain access to Dubai One, Music Plus etc which is part of the middle east beam?Thank you and would appreciate the assistance from anyone.:)

Hello I've just read through this thread top to bottom but can't find the answer i'm looking for. If its already been answered somewhere i do apologize lol.

Has anyone already, or does anyone know what size dish would be required to recieve Nilesat 201 for the AD sports channels in Toulouse, France??

Thanks all

I think the problem you have in getting a reply is that a lot of the forum regulars don't receive Nilesat 201 and in the UK it's almost a given that it's impossible to do so unless you had a dish well in excess of 3M. There aren't many of us in France on here who post often. I do get Nilesat on a 1.2M dish but have never had a trace of 201. It's a very M.E. specific footprint and I think lower powered than the others. Have you tried with any dish? You may have a chance of success with your chosen location being further south than me. If I had to guess I'd say at least a 1.8M but if you are using an AD Sports supplied receiver you may find the dish size needs to increase as they are renowned for having poor tuners.

Sorry this may sound like a stupid question however, is there a way of swapping out the tuner or using a more sensitive box? I heard that all AD sports boxes had the cards fixed into the box? Is there a way of just buying an AD sports subscription card?

Don't suppose you know of any french satellite forums do you?

Thanks for your reply.

No point asking us - we have no more than a handful of active members in Africa, and I dont think we have any others in Namibia at all. The best we can offer is buy the dish and try it - if you get a signal we will be very pleased for you, but I rather doubt you will be successful. Namibia is a long long way off the southern edge of the Ku beam footprint.

The coverage of Nilesat 201 has not changed since this thread was opened on 04-08-2010 that is nearly 2 years ago the best satellite from 7 w is Eutelsat 7 West Atlantic @ 7.3 west,

If you live in Northern Europe there is little hope of receiving Nilesat 201 due to the tight footprint some channels will migrate from Nilesat 101/102 over the next few months if they transfer to Eutelsat 7 West Atlantic you may receive them outside the service area but if they move to Nilesat 201 you will not get them even with a very large dish.

Not any that I use as my level of French isn't that good (spoken reasonable, but written poor). However, you can try the one at telesatellite.com

As far as swapping over the tuners, I've never heard of it but that's not to say it can't be done. I think the cards used to be embedded in the box but I'm not sure about getting the cards on their own. One of the members on here tried to pick up AD Sports, firstly from Nilesat then Badr6 and I'm sure somewhere in the 65 pages of his thread (yes, 65!) there's references to the receivers. If you make several cups of coffee you can read through it here

http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/...lti-sat-motorised-systems/178950-dish-ok.html

I've had occasional good weather related bursts of the AD Sports transponder on Badr6 using my 1.2M motorised dish with the DrHD F15. It might be worth you considering that as an alternate solution. Bonne Chance!!
