Don't need to - all working. Explain please why ONLY the SX88+ was affected - have you read my posts?
Fine then. I have known where a slighlty incorrectly terminated F connector will work with one receiver not another. The same for Diseqc switches, some models work better with certain receivers etc...their are endless scenarios!

Leaning more heavily towards the Edision now. Forums are so useful for getting the benefit of real user experiences. I want something that works "out of the box" these days.

Where would be the best place to get an Edison in the UK?

Sometimes I get the occasional Dolby Digital Plus audio not working on the SX88+, restarting the box fixes it. I'll try and investigate whats causing it, its only happened twice since I've owned it. In the example video the channel affected is 4Funtv but the same problem happens on the french multistream channels at 5w.

I had a play around with the SX88+ and managed to get my Viaccess Fransat card working so now I have all the French channels twice :D . If Viaccess is supported its safe to say Nagravision and Seca will be too allowing for subscriptions to Mediaset Premium and Canal+ which before was only possible on terrestrial television.

Dear,
I tried too, but it was a mess for me.
I had to use the fransat service to update the card, because, dencam emulation create some problems with it.
How did you do ? please in PM.
ciao
Thanks

There must be so much this little box does, which is totally hidden from me by the fact it's all discussed in German......

Yep theres lots of cool stuff this box does, unfortunately I can't discuss some of it on this forum. The feature Im most interested is the DLNA being able to watch live channels through the network onto your phone or PC. Ive got as far as the channel list showing up but when I choose to play a channel it fails.

Although I don't have an up to date Fransat card here with me I'd be interested to know how you did it too. And of course that's fine for discussion here, these cards are entirely legal and one is entitled to insert them into any box one likes.

It was alot of hard work which required installing unofficial firmware, this is one of the big advantages of the Octagon over the Edison for me. I have a PC6 Fransat but as long as the card is active and works then it should work in the receiver too.

Presumably that means you can watch the France 3 regional versions....? Presumably you can also record the Fransat versions and then watch them on a computer without any let or hindrance...? That would be very useful *if* the day comes when multistream becomes encrypted.

Yep the extra channels I can get are France 3 variations, ETB 1 & 3, TV5 Monde and BFM Business. The sound from the 4K channel comes through aswell. I do subscribe to SFR Sport but I can't get that working just yet. As for recordings I can't get this working either, hopefully I can get this working soon.

I suspect that until more work has been done on the software it's going to be "beyond me"
I can't see why they can make it so the card works straight away without any hassle, it should just be a simple software update they need to include.

to follow in your trail-blazing footsteps
I wish I knew more, I'm pretty sure I could get the english channels at 27.5w and the spanish dtt chnanels at 30w working if I put my mind to it.

Is that because it can't run at 44.1 Mbps I wonder.....? Being well within the Astra 2 footprint I have no need of the 27.5 deg W version but have - ahem - seen it working well on a Technomate 5402 mk 3. It would be fun to have it on the Octagon too....

The problem is the Octagon can't scan the transponder because it doesn't know what the PIDs are. The solution is to add each channel manually via the software provided on the octagon website. I haven't yet figured this out but it can't be that hard (famous last words)

Thought this was pretty cool, the e-channelizer software provided by Octagon gives you the signal reading and signal quality of the transponder you're on. The db level doesn't work though

hopefully but the octagon can not do that 27.5w abertis 30w have no strength thanks
the abertis channels at 30W are encapsulated in biss, besides the channels themselves being in biss. it's only available, afaik, in some enigma2 boxes and of course the telves tdtsat boxes.

The Octagon SX88+ is technically an enigma 2 box

No!
It works under Linux like E2 but fortunately it is not an E2 Receiver, otherwise you would not have a Blindscan.
Apart from the dreambox 900/920 which has blindscan (closed and non-public part of its program) no E2 Receiver is able to have a real Blindscan.

The problem isnt with recordings but with watching the channels live. I recorded the problem with my phone as you can see below, the picture is very intermittent but the signal from this channel is fine.

Problem has been fixed in the new update :D

From reading the release notes it looks like they have updated the video driver and from early impressions I can see the playback is working perfectly. I remember someone else said they were having issues on satellite feeds, this should be fixed also.
