Hi all, can't ignore this much longer and am thinking of getting this. Two questions though.

Can the signal be displayed in dB (real or not) or only on arbitrary percentage points?

Do you get a signal quality reading under lock like sat cards and F15 receiver?

No and no but there's always the possibility of this being included in a future software update. Other annoying things I have found is the traponder list isn't in order and after every type of scan All satellites is selected.

Anybody else with a SX88 or SX88+ having problems with the RTSH transponder on 16e (12639 H 10833)? The signal takes about a minute to lock but once its locked the channels work perfectly, this is the first transponder that I have come across which has this problem. I have no problems on my other receivers so this leads me to think its an Octagon problem.

I have no problem with my SX88(+)
It sounds like a weak signal.
Your image is with a lot of pixels.
The real name of the program is not found like all others that are on the same frequency.
The SX88 is a pretty sensitive receiver, so if you have any problem with other receivers, I do not know why.
Is the SX88 directly connected to the LNB? and not behind another receiver?

Are there any plans to introduce the option to blind scan a user selectable frequency range or is a user stuck with having to do a full band scan?

I'm still struggling to get the recording function working, this is driving me crazy now. I have tried 3 USB sticks, 2 with the recommended FAT32 and a 2gb USB with just plain FAT. The 2 FAT32 USB's work fine with the receiver when it comes to software updates, saving channel lists etc but when I press record it says Recording Error. This happens on every single version of the software since the SX88+ was launched, I'm currently on 1.04.53 which is the latest version. I have tried the USB's in both ports, I have tried different channels on different satellites. The USB's record fine with my other receivers, is there a minimum amount of GB required for it to work?

Are you SURE you haven't got the USA version installed by mistake!
I suggest that you re-download the EU version from the Octagon website just to be certain.

Other suggestions... Put a video file on the disk first and play it back. I've never tried a completely blank disk. Check that the disk shown under media files matches the setting for PVR record device

Thanks, I just did a software update to be certain and now the functionality to record has completed dissapeared. Under Media in the menu it displays: Home network/USB, Storage and Network shares settings and thats it. When I press record on the remote nothing happens, no errors and no recording. MP4 files and JPGs on the USB work fine.

Hello mikeisyou.
You really have no luck with the SX88 (+).
I just did a recording test with the SX88 (+1-tile.jpg).
I have no problem.
Everything works perfectly, the subtitles are recorded too, not to see them just remove them with the help of the remote control.
Have the programs been worked with a channel editor? (Echanneleditor or another).
I rest this question because a lot of unexpected problems come from that.
You should never take back a backup of programs that have been worked with an editor.
good luck.

Thanks but with that version I still experience the same problems as per my first post.
I must be time to email octagon-germany support and ask for help. For some reason they don't list the support email address on their contact us page so I don't think I should post it here.

But, if you go to the download page for SX88+ and open the "Anleitung USB" link the instructions have the support email address at the bottom.

I'm sure they won't have any problem with "englisch"...

They answer 'technical' questions much quicker on Facebook than e-mail in my experience...

I had problems recording when I first tried it. I was using a 16GB USB stick similar to what mikeisyou is using. I suspected that there might be a minimum size for the recording media and as I had a 128GB SSD sitting around spare, I formatted it on my Windows PC and connected it to my SX88+. Apart from the known issues with scheduled recordings from the French multistream service, recording is working superbly.

So, mikeisyou, perhaps you want to try a larger USB device.

Do not have the SX88+ only the SX88 but for me there were no problems using a 32GB stick with firmware OCTAGON_SX88_SW_EU_V10453_290318 installed and the stick formatted in FAT.

The other stick however, a 64GB Sandisk Ultra USB 3.0 was recognised but, as others have said, would not record and did not recognise other random recordings I had put on the stick for playback tests. Glad to say that formatting it in NTFS cured the problem, now records and plays back perfect! :Y

Just a reminder that the above was using an SX88 and not the SX88+

Best wishes. :D

64GB and larger come formatted exFAT. My Samsung TV will read exFAT but it's not a linux kernel driver.
It's advisable to format NTFS to have journalling disabled, if that is possible, or it may wear out the flash. Not something I have investigated, though.

I should have included this in my original post but as you can see the folders are there from the failed recordings but they are all empty. I'll keep trying to see if I can get it working.
