As I say, no problem on the same cable feed when the 4008 is substituted, and no problem on the next horizontal transponder up in frequency.

is the SX 88 in direct contact with the LNB?
Or is it in series behind another receiver?

The SX88/88+ seems far too bug laden.

When I get back from hol., I think the choice is narrowed down to the SX8 HD One (need more real-life reviews) and the Edision Primo (works without issue straight out of the box)
Edision telecommander is far nicer.

But I'm pretty annoyed that pressing the menu button now takes one to a screen which is little more than an advertising hoarding for various internet TV providers, and that one then has to press the BLUE button to access the STB menus. Am I unreasonable in thinking this is a blatant commercial intrusion into the box?
Yep couldn't agree more, I don't see why it can't be added to the main menu and it looks awful.

lip sync problem seems to have been more to do with BBC 1 Oxford (chosen at random) than with the SX88+. Recording just done on France 3 seems fine, and plays back on my computer.
I'm getting lip sync problems on live channels, the channels affected seem to be just random as far as I can tell.

Took the SX88+ back to the sitting room, plugged it back in, on power up it did display 11053 fine, but as soon as I tuned away and back it was gone again.
You could try 11054 H 27500 on Hotbird, I'm guessing it would be through a different LNB but it'll be interesting to see if it works just as a test.

@mw963

Excuse me I didn't find the first message that indicated this problem
on which satellite is this transponder 11053 (H or V ) that poses so much problem with the SX88?

It's Astra 1 (Tagenschau24/ARD One HD). H pol.

I will have a look at Hotbird on that frequency but it won't be for a few days at it will involve a certain amount of technical upheaval!

If its too much bother don't worry about it unless you want to. If the transponder works with the other receivers you have surely it must be a problem with the SX88+, maybe its not compatible with the LNB that you have. Have you spoken to Octagon about the problem?

OK.

You understand that the SX88 (+) is planned for the Germanic market, if there was a problem
on all SX88s with this frequencies, we would have noticed the first day.
So there is something about you here that affects this frequency and only the SX88 is affected by this problem.
Mikeisyou is right try on hotbird to see if it's the SX88 that has a problem with just this frequency.

Do you have a military airport near you? (military radars sometimes have influence on the airwaves)
do you have a cordless phone with the SX88?

I ask these questions because in very rare cases it could cause problems.

good luck

Whilst @stephan94 could be right about interference, it probably won't be from DECT phones in this instance as it's normally centred on 11530 and 12480 MHz.

They operate at around 1880 MHz, which is the L Band spot that the quoted Ku Band frequencies end up at after downshifting by 9750/10600 MHz respectively. 11053 MHz is way too far removed from 11530 MHz.

I recorded for the duration of 25 minutes One HD and I have no picture problem even after 20 minutes.
Audio also stays in sync with the image.View attachment 115529

An update on the stutter bug situation, the good news is ONE HD is working fine now, stutter free. The bad news is Das Erste and R9 Oesterrich are now stuttering. The stuttering on R9 Oesterrich is the worst I've seen so far, it got so bad the picture went completely black. Other channels on the same frequency work perfectly fine, the signal is perfect too. I'll have a check tomorrow to see what it its like then.

@ stephan94 I did think of the DECT possibility but dismissed it. No airports, we're in La France Profonde.

Can't do anything for the next couple of days, but it is odd that two other receivers pick up 11053 MHz consistently and with no problems, whereas the SX88+ doesn't. As I said earlier, I entirely accept that Disecqs can cause some very odd anomalies, and the only real way to test it will be for me to take the box out to the dish farm and connect it direct to the LNB, along with a little TV, which is incredibly difficult given the lack of a SCART socket on the SX88+, not sure how I'm going to get round that short of lugging the HD TV outdoors too. Later I'll try 11273 MHz as well....
The SX88+ has AV out on it, can you use composite instead? Or a composite to SCART adapter.
It won't be RGB quality but it will be something.

I just had a chat with Octagon and they're able to confirm they are a few problems with viewing some of the channels on Astra 1 and they'll be fixing it as soon as possible :)

@mw963 this doesn't include the signal problem you're having

Hi,

Since firmware 1.04.51 I have found similar problems (not smooth) in some HD feeds at 7 east and 10 east with my SX88. After returned to version 1.04.48 these problems gone

Do you think it can solve the 27 west BBC limit?

It will not change anything. It's just another editor.
But maybe at Denys they will find a solution, why not?

Long story short; set up independent Astra 1 dish; problem on 11053 MHz disappeared. Scanned in many other Astra 1 transponders which had been missing - only on the SX88+ - into its channel list.

Swapped back to the normal Disecq'd feed and - what do you know - the problem has now disappeared, in spite of the fact I have changed absolutely nothing, other than to try the SX88+ on a different dish. No longer any need to fiddle with voltage menus to get Astra 1 working.

I can only think that maybe there was a tiny bit of oxidation in the F socket on the SX88+ that was blocking 18V sometimes, and that finally it cleared when I used a different cable, even though I had swapped the cable around when I moved the SX88+ to a different room where it exhibited the same symptoms.

One of those things we'll never probably explain.....

Thanks again to stephan94
I would check all the F connectors on your cables..

If I understand correctly you have Diseqc behind the receiver also with a multischalter.
Depending on the brand of these devices sometimes it works, sometimes it does not work.
These problems are often noticed with games down devices.
when you work with top of game (spaum, Kathrein) there is no more problem.
Unfortunately this is more expensive.

Leaning more heavily towards the Edision now. Forums are so useful for getting the benefit of real user experiences. I want something that works "out of the box" these days.

Very well put, I agree. I have already got one Octabug and don't need any more. <smile>
