i have used the v8 sat meter going fishing with a small plastic 35cm dish antenna.
Plus you re-charge with a 12v solar panel dc car battery charger when off grid.
The battery last for 2hours for tv viewing.

Yes, it does work quite well as a monitor/satellite receiver.
I keep one in the portable/caravan suitcase unit instead of the 'Ross' HD receiver that came as standard (which could have been a superb system if only the bugs had been ironed out).

The built in screen (and both connector outputs) show the battery level indicator in the top right.

any one got any info on how to use this to setup a motorised dish ?
i used it to tweak the dish in early spring but dish has moved slightly and i can't remember how i did it last time
does this meter drive the motorised dish ? just going to check extreme sat's and their outer frequencies

Yes it can steer the dish as it has usals built in . I did it on mine but now I'm 36v

On the meter try to tune 10493H 1500 on 26°E where there's a promo video. Some of these meters can tune below the usual frequency range, which enables them to view the amateur broadcasts on Es'hail 2.
