Usually polar-mounts have their own adjustments, so it is not so critical to have main pole plumb.
I thought that was probably THE most important aspect of setting up a pole for a motorised dish! Have I been misinformed??? :confused

I'm reading all this with interest as I'm now losing some Satellites on my 1.1m due to relentless tree growth, so am thinking of repositioning, possibly on a wall rather than the ground.
Your location shows as North Yorkshire Moors, are you in an exposed position there (ooer;)) If you are think about what I said in post 9 of this thread.

You can probably get away (just) with north/south adjustments but not if the pole is not vertical east/west. Not that I can think of.

No, that is right statement, but when mount has it's own adjustments (circled them on attached picture) than it still possible to make antenna vertical.

Add: having main pole dead-plumb is best option.

Been there, done that. Previous wall-mounting attempt lasted only a few weeks before I took it down.

But needs must, and a spot of over-engineering might be in order!

I've noticed loads of crap wall installs on my travels. Quite a few in precarious states or the aftermath of strong winds. I find it amazing that so many dishes (of all sizes) are mounted on tiny TK brackets or just one bracket, especially on some old half rotten chimney stack!

It was on 12" T&K with a Motek clone H-H motor, put up especially for the Cricket World Cup.

Wind effects caused me great concern over wrecking the motor and ripping the brackets from the wall.

With the 1.1m Triax? It's actually a surprisingly heavy dish... Though I've seen these hanging on an L bracket attached to a chimney ...

A quick update! Had heavyish downpours of rain this weekend, the first since I installed my 1.2m Channel Master. Well I was still able to watch football all the time it rained, surprisingly with no pixellation what so ever. Switching back to my 1.0m Channel Master and the same channels were at best unwatchable, if, they could be received at all! A real heavy storm, when it's absolutely pissing it down might still stop me watching football, we shall no doubt see, but overall I'm very happy with the extra rain margin the bigger dish gives me :D

Get two sets of T &K brackets and install them K T K or if you are feeling nervous K T T K and then install the motor resting on the top T.

Use my string and nut on a A4 board method to get them dead vertical for pence.

I doubt you could get anything more stable than that.

Reading through this has reminded me of the spare cm 1.2 I've got stored in shed.

I wanted to try it on a ground mount as I can't seem to get 7west on my motorised dish, it's a weird one anyway and yes it is aligned correctly lol.

I've had a cm 1m on a jaeger 1224 motor for years above the roof and it's been fine.

It's on t k k bracket arrangement.

Need to get back into it all but my receiver is broke at the minute.

Tivu, sounds like you need to get handy with a chainsaw so light trimming maybe :)

Wod, I wouldn't mind using you as a guinea pig to test a 1.2m CM on the 1224 above the gutter with the winds and all.

And to hell with Wods roof tiles and trusses in the next storm?

:-lol

With K T T K over a couple of metres it won't be much of an experiment it would just sit there even if there is another tornado like there was on Thursday in Alfreton.

I was talking to a guy today and he showed me his 1.2m dish that had been blown off of his flat roof complete with tripod mount that was bolted to concrete blocks and motor! Battered!

I had those wall mounting clamp things from Satellite Superstore too. They do the job but they are expensive.
