Are both your dishes going to be motorised Martin, if so what are you going to use for the 1.8m? Do you have a polar mount for it of some sort?

Ah I see, that's why it's so high, you have to look over your house (bungalow?) to follow the arc. Where is your 1.8 sited? Is that it in your profile picture?
No, the dish clears my roof OK but it's that high to clear a hedge about 100m away that partially obscures 68E, all that engineering for one bird LOL In actual fact (according to the sun calculators) it does clear it but presumably it's so close I get a lot of noise from it.
Pic attached shows shadow taken at peak interference time for 68.5E. The signal on my 1.2 is 3dB lower than a friends 1m that has LOS down to 75E.

The 1.8 is ground mounted in the garden, can see down to the westerly horizon no problem but limited to 49E.

68.5E is a tricky beast. Though I never lose the transponders I do receive, the signal quality varies massively from 4dB to 8dB within a matter of seconds. That's low lying satellites for you.

I've had the frustrating experience of seeing it at Mike's along the road where it's solid and stable but yes the old ABS1 signals would fluctuate dramatically! I've been trying to convince him to let me experiment with a 2.4m FS on C band on his flat roof but he's not having it so far :D

I can.t get 68.8E from my position up the road from you Aceb, my LOS is blocked by my roofline :(
I don't blame your mate for not letting you "play" on his flat roof with a flipping great big 2.4m dish! :-lol

Ah yes, I remember that thread. How is that polar mount coming on Martin? Any updates for us :)

No updates RB, but I might get the welder back out soon and finish the mount, I will be fitting the framework for the roof before the dish goes up, it will stabilise any movement if they is any, the pole will have have a ton of concrete round its base and it will be dam easy to work on dish once all is in place.

Martin you've got sooo much to do, what with your garden, balcony/roof/ decking, making your polar mount, concreting your pole (metal type:rolleyes:) in place and fitting your dishes, you're not going to have time to watch footy or have a pint!:D

True C/J, I have a plan for my C band mod, plenty of chopping and a new re-route :)

Feel free to share your plans :) Getting more than one LNB on CM dishes is tricky...
