totalacedude:- yes you need to match it with the server name in your newcs.xml

In the <newcamdserver> section this refers to the <name></name> parameter.
So what ever you have called your NewCS server you must put that name on the end of the CWS line.
If you've used my config creator it will be <name>NewCS</name>

cauliflower:- some good info and well explained in the previous post, thanks for contributing.

Don't give up you just have to define it for the BT Home Hub
open your browser
192.168.1.254
advanced
continue to advanced enter password
create a new game or application
create a new entry
insert name
click on manual entry of port maps
Enter required details (but don't ask me what they are)
Save

betty1234 I recommend any of the netgear gigabit routers. The BT homehub is notoriously aweful to work with.

I posted in the poll that B16Mcc has started stating that my Sly card was getting a little hot. Here's a pic,it's not the best(crappy camera phone!)
You can see the slight dis-colouration where the chip is(i hope!)Not sure if the DM800 is doing this or the slybox :confused
It also smells of something a bit scorched!

As said on another forum and i've asked here with no help further as this topic is not covered here is that the new white card needs to be run in a 3.3v card reader, the old cards was 5v and this is true despite what everyone says.

This info i have got from a Russian forum as the problem with burnt card in the picture posted happens often.

What i have not got any answer on if DM800 and DM8000 runs their cardreaders at 3.3 or 5v?

I don't own one so i can't measure the voltage, maybe someone here can?

Hi,

I am experiencing some issues and I hope that resolving this might improve the howto at the top of the thread.

I am using CCcam 2.1.3 and all channel clear except $ly $ports HD channels. (Note I can clear $ky 1 HD, MTV HD etc etc just not the sports. I do not subsrcibe to films.)

I generated a BOXKEY using the boxkey converter v1.4.0 using the serial number from menu 11 chars, and serial number from bottom of box 17 chars. I put in the following line in my CCcam.cfg file:

BOXKEY: /dev/sci0 00 11 22 33

where 00 11 22 33 is actually the 8 char hex boxkey code generated.

It doesnt clear the sports channels. In fact if I do not enter any boxkey it still clears everything except the sports.

Does anyone else experience that the BOXKEY is unnecesary except for sports, and possibly films?

I think I have followed the howto in the other thread as well as I can. The only issues are:

1. How do you get to the "hidden engineers menu" on a Thomsen HD box? (I am just getting the numbers off of the settings menu and the bottom of the box)
2. Are there any other settings that I need outside of hte defaults in CCcam.cfg?

Thanks,

stvy

hello
is there a way to lower the voltage????
if not then a 3 volt zener in the supply pin of the card reader will keep the voltage at 3 v if the supply is 5 v.
card will last longer.
there are zenners at diff voltages as well 3.5 v and all types.
there are what 6 pins on the card??
one is supply,ground,clock and data

What do you mean by "no way near"?

You actually got slight burning mark on the chip?

If they are all 5v as you say everyone with DM should use a proper external reader.

"It won't get hot... A 1.7v overload will not get hot but it will eventually fry an internal component. Remember they have computer chips in there now not a big resistor or capacitor.

Run it at your own risk...... "

"NDS2 chip is rated +5v
NDS3 chip is rated mostly +3.3v
Dreamboxes up to dm7025 internal reader have all +5v card chip powering mode same as older relook, Dbox and so on. I dunno hows it with dm800 and 8000 and with other newer HD recivers. But with older +5v readers is very big chance to roast your NDS3 card.
I just try to warn from the consequences what can happen and with some users it has already happend. "

I found this picture on another forum so it is probably better to use a external card reader than frying your card as it will not fry at start but take a few months before it shows any signs.

betty1234 I would go with a smargo reader, its called the Smartreader+. Get it from _www.satstore.co.uk. If you go with an omnikey then you'll need to use NewCS and I don't recommend that over CCcam. With what the guys are talking about regarding card damage I stick by my original theory, never put your card in the internal reader when alternatives are easily available.

A zenner is a type of diode and would need to mounted in the 5v supply to the card reader to reduce the voltage to 3.0v - thats the theory anyway !
