Hopefully Thor 7 will be better than Thor 6 K2 for you.

I hope THOR 7 will be OK here in the UK reception wise.... However SES 5 with the Viasat channels don't even get a sniff of here in the south of the UK even with the 1.2 CM. A very focused footprint.

It does depend where you are in the south. In South East, home counties and thereabouts, you should be OK with a 1.2m dish. Beyond that, it does drop off very quickly. I do get signal from it in Bristol on the 1.5m dish but it's way below lock.

So, yes, I hope Thor 7 will be a non-event here too!

I couldn't get SES-5 properly on the CM1.2 when I tried last summer in South Bucks.

If this really is on Thor 7, then I am happy - over 13dB on 1.5m dish.

Yes solly - depends of course which Ka Band is active.

Yesterday I found a data signal in Band B on 0.8/1W I think. I will check again soon.

THOR 7 takes up residence at 1°West
22 June 2015
(Oslo, Norway, June 22, 2015) Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSBc) today announces that THOR 7, which was successfully launched into geostationary transfer orbit on board an Ariane 5 launcher on April 26, 2015, has now completed its in-orbit testing and reached its final orbital location at 1°West
.

The THOR 7 satellite was officially handed over to TSBc’s satellite control centre at 5pm on June 16, 2015.

With the handover complete, the THOR 7 Ku-band payload, dedicated to DTH services, is now ready for commercial operation. THOR 7’s Ku-band payload of 11 transponders will provide much-needed growth capacity for broadcast and TV services throughout Europe and specifically in Central and Eastern Europe. THOR 7’s location of 1°West is home to the THOR satellite fleet and is one of Europe’s prime satellite locations, reaching close to 18 million households.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Thor 7 would be at 0.65W so I think you are right.

further testing phase to ground infrastructure. Satellite multi-gigabit communication HTS capacity will address the growing demand for bandwidth from the maritime industry. It is expected that capacity in Ka band will become fully operational during the fourth quarter of 2015.
