Oh come on - it covers from Greenland in the west to Russia in the east, and from Iceland in the north to Morocco in the south - all at high power.
No matter what the beam is called by Intelsat that is NOT a spotbeam
I went to a hotel yesterday in Gran Canaria where they have a vending machine in the reception and are reselling access to Sky News, BBC1 (and several other FTA channels) in the hotel rooms. I don´t think the EU directive allows the reselling channels that are free in the first place?as long as this is limited to some technical interested people, they wont care at all. I remember a text on the BBC reception page way back in 2003 when the BBC channels dropped the encryption on 28.2 east, saying something like people have always received our signals in fringe areas (probably refering to France etc) when they were asked about over-spill of then 2D.
It only always gets problematic when people start making money with it, ie indeed selling boxes etc. This is the point they usually feel the need to act.
I dont think so. That would be too expensive (licence cost for Nagra). They also would need to install new equipment. There are easier and cheaper ways, for example just changing the code...
Hi!
Good signal in UK
Thanks for your reply)
I always wondered why I had BBC channels in hotels in Belgium and Holland. How do the copyrighters allow transmission outside the intended area? I know UK spot is easy in those countries anyway... but a legal agreement?
There are cable companies in either Belguim or Netherland (can't which one if not both) which are legally allowed to distribute the BBC channels.
I understand that - but why? Are copyrighters not objecting this? Do they get extra money for this?
hi, i noticed earlier in the thread a post from hixxy saying that these channels worked ok on the dreambox, and offering to post a working cw file.
just asking if he ever posted this file anyware and if not can anyone else do so.
thanks in advance
I have absolutely no idea tbh. My guess is they pay the beeb a licensing/copyright fee and it goes towards the worldwide and uk funds.
