The Dutch cable companies do indeed pay the Beeb appropriate fees for carrying their content.
So, how does the Beeb square that with the rights owning organisations that they've paid for just UK rights I wonder?

I would imagine they've paid for that coverage, being cable distribution they can put a finite number on it.

I do not know how many BBC enter with mgcamd on your DM,but on my DM500HD I have managed to open only BBC 4 and #301! I thought the program is FTA but checking with other receivers,BBC 4 could not be open.

With DVB- S2 players are not problems to see the whole package:

They're all working here apart from BBC Alba, but may just be a case of changing a few things.
No, it won't. A simple check shows that BBC Alba doesn't have video and audio elementary streams. There's just a MHEG stream.

Hi

Sorry to carry-on slightly off topic, but I am just about add a 27.5W dish to my roof here in Lanzarote for the beeb - I am worried that come the day that we lose 1N we might have some blanks screens (our communal dish is only a 2.7M). I can't locate a definitive list of usable receivers - I currently am running a qbox mini and a DM600 here. Lot's of mentions of Technomates - anyone else what throw in some proven boxes or point me to a list? I wondered also about a DM800.

I guess the main issues are the Symbol rate, the AAC audio (apparently?) and the encrypted pids (so I hear?). << NB these are things that I picked up in other thread

TIA

Rob

Moderation Note: Not Off Topic now ............... I've moved this from rthe Astra 2F General Chat Thread as this one is more specific to your query.

Earlier in this thread, post 168, I showed how F16 manages with it.

Its starting already with some installers over here already offering installations with a 1.2 metre dish aligned to 27.5w. Wonder if the BBC will actually care although perhaps the content providers may want more money or an improvement in encryption.

What provision are they making for updating the BISS keys if they change? Also are they installing HD equipment (hence also receiving ITV and Channel 4) or is it just the BBC ? I haven't seen any advertising for this. Where did you hear about it?

Don´t know what the cheapest receiver is that can deal with this signal but I have tried on a technomate 5402HD and no problems at all......also seen a dreambox hd (cannot remember which model) which opened up the channels so guess it will work with enigma 2 (yet to try on my VU as that will probably screw up so cannot really be bothered.

Do you think BBC should take actions basing on 1 forum announcement? Every change costs money and takes change management decisions, so I really doubt it would be worth effort. Signal is encrypted and access to channels is well obstructed for wider audience. I bet you no one cares @ BBC.

The more people ask questions nobody can or will answer the higher the chance that this leak will be fixed :D

Belive me, people are far more interested in SKY sharing than watching UK public channels. Leak may be fixed but very unlikely.

Noise doesn't mean anything to them. What matters to them is business only.

It'll be for channels 1-4. It'll almost certainly be hd equipment as the it's DVBS2 and itv is only available in hd on that sat.

If you have a HD box for say itv and channel 4 can you share these channels on i.e to complexes like they do at the moment or is this only done using HD leads as dont they just use RF.
