That's interesting yet moving it closer lowers the signal?
yes as you can see from my lnb holder picture my lnb is almost pushed back all the way but if i bring it closer signal gets weaker
the only possibility is if the arm is 63ish cm it will create different angle and change the focus point thus makes signal stronger as william 1 has experienced
i will do the same experiment and then report back

I'm not sure how much you can read into gain figures. From what i've read the gain should be directly correlated to the dish size with a standard dish (not a double focus one). The Televes 1000 dish I have measures 94 cm x 104 cm (outer dimension I think but will confirm tomorrow) according to the specs with a gain of 39.8 @ 11.7 but it's smaller than the Gibertini and KEA which only have 39.7. Also that SPI1000 (which calls itself a 97cm dish) which I believe to be the Gibertini listed a max gain of 40.8 compared to 40.5 of the Gibertini. 40.8 is almost what the TD110 pulls in yet it's bigger. So i'm taking the gain figures with a pinch of salt. Perhaps the OA10A is bigger than the listed 100.

The KEA 1000 should arrive tomorrow, will report back how it looks but won't have time to set it up till next week
you are man on a mission to achieve your goal well done

Asesome that its coming so fast, however you may have ordered a while ago as I don’t know. I spent a extra day and half trying to make right decision and research it came down to Gibertini SE, which I could have had forwarded to UK for under £170 including dish however I don’t like the complications that could possibly arise.
Vs the KEA the more I looked in I realised it’s more stable feed arm than the XP which was putting me off that it didn’t look that robust, why I was preferring the SE, along with modern design, however Kathrein all of there products are quality and the thoughts I.e. stainnless steel nuts/bolts, folding, more stability than likewise XP. Just gibertini support are fantastic but that shouldn’t be needed response always within hours compared to 3 day still waiting (found out myself), however they don’t just sell satellites I suppose and irrelevant topic. So I bought KEA for ~£110. Took a shortcut buying cheaper but I hope good news and it will ship. You were really efficient aha. Took me days to get to same place. Glad I’m not getting white dish now :). Nice work.

I ordered on Tuesday, didn't come Friday but Fedex has it scheduled tomorrow. Do you mean you're still waiting for Kathrein to reply? Try the email here Sales International if so. He replied the next morning to my question.

Also noticed that Hypex UK stock the OA10A dish, not sure if they only sell to trade though

Oh yes I sent through to support, good to know that, I didn’t think of that. I will edit earlier post if can, as its now invalid. Can’t edit sorry Kathrein :unsure.

It’s funny actually as I was the reason that’s there. I went to triax and went through all there distributors to try and get the Triax Fresat100. Eventually I came across hypex and noticed a decent dish for once but then the 1M was missing. I asked if they could and then within hours it was there. I think they were going to help also due to circumstances of shipping from Germany.
So for any installers or people who can acces hypex, do they are very helpful and go to lengths to try to get you help.

I decided not to as i was uncertain about the plastic back part (longevity), now I think of it it’s probably a good idea as I hear mixing two metals aluminum and steel causes corrosion due to passing of electrons (not sure how long the coating helps that). This dish the problem has been thought about.
Now I think of it, the reflector may potentially have the biggest offering, I can only find on the website the sales unit dimensions 1030 x 1130 x 200 mm.

So it’s a close one, in the end I was worried about attachchments and just thought Kathrein would offer better availability. In case going with multi LNB, however I can only see the KEZ 02, 2 lnb set up attachment.
Where as Wisi offer up to 8, not that I would do that aha. I’m sure kathrein have one somewhere I’ll have to email if the have 3/4 setup.

I was looking here 80-100 cm SAT-Antennen im Test at test done to measure how well each satellite did as was also considering WISI OA100, just this particular test by them they compared a 100cm dish to 85cms, and I couldn’t be bothered to look through at the other editions as I can’t read the graph well. Shame they never compared equals like giberini XP, Wisi OA etc. That would have been awesome. I found on this review the WISI OA100 reflector is 99cm x 109 cm, the OA10A is bigger according to WISI website (Dimensions sales unit) and has no drop down arm so must have bigger reflector.

For anyone interested though a interesting bunch of reviews of different satelllite dishes given the nature of this forum. The older magazine articles from 2018 back are free and you can read them.
Sat-Antennen or google satvision.de then click tests you can translate In google translate also if you download the magazine .

Overall I would have gone with the SE if available as I read reviews where feedarm has come loose and wobbles not on Kathrein but in general.
Doesn’t seem to be a problem not heard from any people saying gibertini XP was wobbly over time.
I’m interested to see how stable the arm is as you can’t see what in the area shown below. People said it’s stable but doesn’t look it.
Thats why I wanted SE, however it must be and hopefully I will loose my interest for the SE after it arrives and the rigidity is hopefully evident as I saw on review.
Edit I can see now there must be a metal plate above the arm and the black screw thing goes in and secures it. Makes more sense now as I can understand where it gets its stability.

Sounds like you've done even more research than me! WISI OA100 is potentially bigger based on the box size and would explain the higher gain. I'd need to paint it dark though so no good to me. The other dish I came across was the Kreiling ae 100 which has 40.9 gain but not much information about it out there.

The arm on my XP never showed any sign of instability. Rock solid over a period of several years...

@Mindfulsat & @DonSE2

Ref "dish gain" numbers: don't over-obsess with 0.1/0.2 dB either way as the actual on-site setup of a dish has a lot more influence on overall performance than the "nominal gain" - get the setup "right" and a "generally quite good" dish/LNB/motor (when used) combo will perform better overall than a "nominally better" combo that isn't correctly setup (resulting in a poor performance, or even "no performance at all"!).

Yeah would rather read all reviews find out as might help out and pay dividend in the future. Also yes thank you for your comment on the Gibertini XP. From other users and yourself I feel confident the Kathrein KEA is a great choice as if anything it looks even better. Also picked up a Gigablue UHD Quad. with DVB T-2 Extras + Inverto Ultra Black LNB. So now just to relax and wait :).

62.5cm measuring at the top of the Lnb arm.
Today made the new wooden arm for gibby xp to about 63 cm (original 69 cm) but signal disappeared
Strange you had shortened the arm and got better signal
What is the total length of arm on your Xp without holder (till the back of dish)

I think you are using the wrong approach. The proper way to install the LNB should be: Calculate all parameters of the dish, such as an offset angle and position of the focal point. Afterwards install LNB in such a way that LNB's phase center is co-located with antenna's focal point. Point the LNB towards the proper point on the surface of the dish. And only then try to catch satellite signals and adjust skew of the LNB.

Was a dry spell took ladder out
Made 3 holes in wooden arm at 63,65 and 67 cm
Tried 63,65and 67 every time check the declination angle , lnb skew and left and right
Signal was bad even on 28.2 east and 1 west.
put the original arm back adjust everything tried badr4 11996 signal was max to 69%
that’s the maximum signal I get
rest of the arc was as good as before.
My conclusion is arm provided with my xp is perfect it’s 69 cm from the mirror till the lnb holder.

Did you buy new dish yet

The dish arrived safely despite the packing being damaged but I still haven't had time to have a go setting it up. Should be able to have a go in a couple of weeks. Will report back once I have

Did you have any issues getting it through customs, such as taxes and handling fees?

I've ordered some items via 'Amazon EU', but the delivery date has changed to 'we'll email when it's ready to be delivered' despite the products still being sold on Amazon with a named delivery date.
