Hi S. thanks for the info. the emp has terrestial and will try it again with just the 28 slotted into input 1 and try with 1.1 first. No open web as need to set that up. I need to look up a guide for black pole first.

Can you post a screen grab of your tuner config. Should work fine as DiSEqC 1.1. DiSEqC 1.2 is for motors. If you mix this up you can't add a motor later. Might as well do it right because all the equipment you are using allows it.

AFIK, it should be no different to what you would have if you had all 16 LNB's set up. DiSEqc mode 1.1, committed, uncommitted, toneburst, then if your 28E is designated LNB1, set it as LNB 1 on the advanced set up screen. If you still can't get anything maybe alter your dip switch to DiSEqc mode 1.0 and 1.1, which is the second switch down, all the rest up. (1.1 is first one down and the others up). Is this the EMP switch with a terrestial input too? A screen shot of your advanced set up screen would help, did you manage to get the VU+ to stream using OpenWeb?

Hi Guys

I did what Pete said and I used diseqc 1.1, with comm., uncom, toneb, relabelled all the inputs and rewired them and it worked. Loose wire, wrong button being pressed, god knows.

I stuck by all the advice and redid it until I got it right

I ended up with the following results

Inputs
Sats

Not happy with the results in a way as I thought there was much more channels being scanned. Could this mean the 80%’s SNR’s need to be higher around the 90’s?

So some questions

1. I would like to add 42e, 39e and 7W is that possible?
2. Smaller lnbs than smart gold what’s the choice (9, 7 better reception)?

I find the best way to check I'm getting all the channels I should is to manually compare the transponders stored in the receiver with online lists like Lyngsat and KingOfSat. There have been a fair few frequencies changes and transponder switching parameters with new satellites and channel packages coming online so although it can be slow going it's worth it in the long run to keep the receiver up to date.

Ok, I think you've done well but I've a couple of questions myself.....

Are those channel totals just FTA or everything (I.E. scrambled, radio and data as well)?
Are you sure you need more than over 7,000 channels? I pick up about 3 to 4,000 FTA ones with my set up and never get a chance to look at them all.
Don't get obsessed by percentages. It's the ones that just lurk below lock you should concentrate on. It depends on what you really want the system for, watching tv or building up a list of as many channels as you can? Sorry if that sounds a bit harsh but you will find 80% to 90% of the channels you can get you will never, ever watch. You may be a little hampered by the lack of a blind scan on the VU+ as well. Keep an eye on the new channel thread on here and look through KOS, Flysat and Lyngsat from time to time, as Timo suggests.

Without a photo of the dish and it's LNB set up as it is now, it's hard to say if the additional sats are possible. There's only one way you'll find out.

Other narrow LNB makes are Inverto multiconnect, Alps and a Megasat multifeed. Not sure if the multiconnect will fit on your LNB mounts, maybe with adaptors. You will be restricted more by the size of the holders rather than the feedhorn diameters. If you fit LNB's that are smaller diameter they aren't as efficient as a 'full' LNB and more susceptible to rain fade and performance drop off in bad weather.

top stuff guys, I took a few photos from my phone and will get them on here as soon as I dl them onto the pc.

I will check the sites you mentioned and see whats new and see what I can teak.

I am looking to make the ultimate channel hopping folders for the family, so sports, cartoons, films, asian and so on.

I guess I will pick up as much free movies and sports and cartoons as I can get via the folders.

I know I won't use all 7500 but, by the time I get rid of the 'holy quran' channel and other African and Mid Europe soap channels and not forgetting the shopping channels. I will have a reasonable size left.

Just want to go through the lot to see whats out there.

As with most things, its 'never enough'.

Lnbs - I was thinking the 9/7 debate as the smart golds are real close.

The pictures hopefully up so to see whats left to finish the dish.

My cabling was not the best, I will tidy them up in the warmer moths with more daylight. At least its working for the winter.

Thanks again guys for the top points and advice - its always appreciated.

A plugin that does this automatically would be great :)

Nice one gzf. The numbers of channels being scanned look about right for the main orbital slots.

I get a full 7 day EPG for Sky and many other channels using a plugin for the Vix image. I'm sure there must be something similar for your image, Googling it should get you something. Do you mean hard copy TV guides? I mean we have loads in the shops here for French programmes and I'd imagine the same would go for other countries. I can't think that there is one which will cover all of Europe, unless you mean something online. Try TV Zap.

An easy way to manage the millions of channels is to blind scan all the satellites then delete all the transponders you never watch then scan only the remaining transponders. Then save the channel database to usb and back it up on the computer.

When you do a bit of blind scanning you can restore the channels to their previous state using the stored database file.

Some mainstream non linux receivers also allow this.

Open VIX for the Uno supports blind scan I think (I'm sure Huevos will confirm this). Have you not got a copy of DBedit, which lets you import channel lists, make up your own bouquets and delete channels on your computer then export them back to the Uno? I don't have it on here as I'm running Linux but I found it very useful. Incidentally it's ages since my image caused the box to crash.

You may be a little hampered by the lack of a blind scan on the VU+ as well.
Uno has proper hardware blindscan. And ViX has the software to get the most out of it.

I get a full 7 day EPG for Sky and many other channels using a plugin for the Vix image.
One big different between the OpenViX version and the others is that the OpenViX version uses a second tuner to do the download, which means the current service continues to play.

Have you got a link for the 16/1 switch you bought?
http://www.emp-centauri.cz/index.php?lang=en&page=prodview&id=284

I think SP has one too. I heard a few failure reports but for 50€ you can't go wrong. To get the same result with Spaun you need to cascade five 4:1 uncommitted switches at 50€ per unit.
