Bare in mind that the offset feed comes complete with the black LNB bracket you can see in my photos, well I'm assuming they still do! I'm not sure what dish the bracket is designed for but I had to use an 18mm square boom to fit into the slot, the most annoying thing is the angle of the bracket varies slightly from both my dishes hence the bent bit of square tube holding it to the LNB arm. I'll go measure my bracket if you still need the measurement?

I'd like a diameter of your LNB if possible please, not to worried about the collar it comes with be easier to just make another one and not spoil the one it comes with adapting it.

Thanks.

LNB arrived, missing the Conical Scalar for offset but Simon over at SatEuropa promised to fix that and get the kit in the post.

May try to strap it to my 1m Channel Master over the weekend and try for 5W. Be awhile till I can fit the 1.2m Gibertini I've got my hands on.

Not really sure what to do with the KU part of the LNB to be honest since its not full universal KU, probably wont use it, maybe 1W that has C and KU in 11700-12200Khz

It would be nothing short of a miracle if you can pick up 1W (Cband) on a 1.2 ..
If you do go for this then maybe just maybe ..BBC arabic is a possibility on a well set up dish/lnb...but the egyptian mux has closed and moved ...and AFN is tricky at best and requires a much bigger dish.

40E remlap. Try 3675R. Got that easily enough with a 90cm no-name dish.

Thanks Llew can't see 40E on my 1M Channel Master which I'll be trying on for now till I can setup Gibertini.

Hi Remlap..
From earlier tests on an 80cm believe it or not ...with a pauxis lnb it was possible to get 40 East without a feed of any kind and the pauxis lashed to the lnb arm with masking tape ..
It was that strong ...and of course it didn't require angular rotation ..it being circular ..but did require a depolarising plate ...in my case a T plate ..so this may well have helped in the absence of an offset feed.
Certainly worth a go at 40 E on the 1.2 even without a feed..

Isn't 40E quite inclined at the moment? Anything on the cards to replace it? Maybe one of the current ones will be moved into its position?

Yep it is CJ ..
But the russians will milk it for every last drop of useage before abandoning the bird ..
Particularly in C band and at such high power..
Remember C band is much more tollerant of inaccuracy..
I usually don't even have to alter the elevation to receive 40E on the Alcoa to lock that single transponder.
And the bigger the dish ..the tighter the beam ...which ain't true of say ..a 1m ..or 1.2

I noticed 22W C band East Hemi footprint looks quite strong over the British Isles. Also the new Astra 4b satellite will have C-band payload at 5e... A new one for this location.

I locked both transponders on 40E last week using the 1.2 where as I only get 3675R using the 1.8 because it has to look through trees. Given the clear LOS 3675R was very strong indeed and I'm sure a 1m with dielectric plate would work fine. I recommend searching out VSs chopping board thread as they are easy to make and outperform the small nylon plate that ship with the LNB.

I see from yesterdays sat-digest update that the RSCC transponder on 4135R (and also on 14W 3625R) has been switched off.

Paul is right on all counts..
What you will notice is the wide spread/capture range of this bird ..
I can easily move 10 clicks west or east of the centre of this position ..without completely losing the signal ..
Thus this is also true of its elevation ..

10 to 15 clicks at this position with the Vbox equates to at least 1 to 1.5 degree of movement.
This is why the 'inclination' of Express AM1 is less of a factor in its capture.

Hi Guys, nice thread you got going on here, i heard captain jack saying 22W east hemisphere beam is strong over here ,i have been trying to lock on 3726L, or 3739L but no lock on a 1.6M dish here in London, only the AFN on 4115L gets a lock> Just want to know if anyone can receive the east hemi, beam thanks and what size of dish

So if I setup my 1m dish up on 39e and move the motor a bit east wards it be fine?

Edit actually may put on my 1.2 Gibertini on wall fixed at 40e for now.

Re 22W, 4115L on the Global beam is 11.9dB but encrypted with PowerVu. The FTA stuff on East hemisphere is quite a bit weaker, 3695R, 3726L and 3739L are all similar strengths around 7.2dB but all have relatively low SRs so maybe tricky to lock depending on your equipment.
