Lllew no its a generic DVB-S2 box from ROSS kit little tiny thing that has surprisingly a great blindscan top notch, not tried it on my TBS 6925.

nelson_b I am not sure about feed position right now its hard to move the scalar ring, will come up with something better soon.

I am just happy with what I have today

CRTV is coming in stronger now its almost watch-able and Rede Mundial International is break up free :D.

Ah, OK. I think blindscanning will be a better option for me, so I'll use the DR.HD as VS suggested. I just need to swap my ku LNB for the C-band one and find the best f/d position for my SMW dish. Will have to wait until I get rid of this heavy cold I have - don't have the energy for climbing ladders at the mo.

It's always worth trying a rescan at a completely different time of day too, some of the signals vary considerably through 24 hours but great results so far :-righton

Today tried for 20E, using Viva Deutschland at 19.2E on the KU part of the LNB since that's in the correct range as a guide to where I was.

20E boomed in at 19.2E fine tuned it with DISEQC and got a lock on all the high SR transponders.

Tried for 2.8E the Congo-Kinshasa mux on 4052 R was showing signs of life but no lock.

Later after my Sunday dinner I will record the dish swinging from 5w-20e or other way round.

Cheers for all help in this thread, really enjoying this!

As promised here is short video of the dish moving between 5W and 20E I've had to mute it due to children next door playing.

Also the bars are because my Flip Cam is 30fps and the TV/Technomate was outputting 25fps.

Not sure if this will embed properly so here is the link

hi - remlap
thanks for the pics of the L.n.b. etc --
i have a similar combined unit -- a DMX741U -- it had a universal k/u part at the back which gave very poor k/u performance on my setup - in part due to it being designed for a prime focus dish - (it has flat feed rings - see picture ) . C band performance was ok though
as part of my experimenting at the time i removed the k/u/ part and blanked off the hole with an aluminium disc
and discovered that i got slightly improved signal/quality levels in C band as a result of this --
this maybe something worth trying with your l.n.b. when you move to weaker satellites ---
but i think a non standard plate will give you the biggest gains :)

it took me a while to get a bracket that i was happy with on my channel master dish -- that allowed me full adjustment of the l.n.b and feed -- and although quite different -- the gibertini looks a bit tricky this way too --

has the awfull weather arrived with you yet --- it has here in n.w. yorks :(

regards nelson.b.

Hi Nelson thanks for the advice, my LNB is not full universal but it cost me the same as standard C-Band LNB with scalar so it was a good price.

Weathers okay for now but it's coming.

Okay this is incredible to me at-least I found my first feed from Benin of the African Union Meeting there on 5W 4156 L 1793 very strong signal.

ID: SCOPUS-NET TECH

Also can anyone confirm Lyngsat is saying 40E has been cleared off over the weekend.

Wondered myself about that - I did a quick swopover of my ku LNB with the C-band LNB on the 39E dish, and couldn't get a dickybird.

..must say I'm very surprised that the Russians have allowed the 40E slot to be effectively ..vacated without first occupying it with a replacement bird.
I was under the impression that once a slot was vacated for a period of time ..the occupier loses the right to re-use.
Perhaps I have this wrong ?

nice one -- :) that is a harder one to catch ----
are you using the original dielectric plate ? --
have you tried different depth positions for the plate -
i found on 1.2 channel master some sat/t.p. frequencies required the plate to be adjusted to get the best signal result -- there wasn,t a best overall position for the plate . only a compromise position sometimes.

I am still using the original plate for now, and never thought about adjusting the depth but that's something I will go look at.

My dad also reads this forum and taken up on the suggestion to make a new dielectric plate.

He's really enjoying seeing the C-Band catches, it's him that got me into this hobby back as a kid so it's nice that he's enjoying it again too!

Thanks for the tip!

Nelson is absolutely right regarding ..what is effectively Tuning the LNB with the plate ..
If you want a simple overall non tuneable option with a bit extra gain ..
Get your dad busy on a polyethylene chopping board..
You'll be pleasantly surprised I expect ..
If you want the more tuneable option which can have dramatic effects on some channels whilst little or even reducing some channels ..
Then The Doctor of Sat plate is for you.
