The Gib 1.2 only received 4115L and just about locked the radio feed on 3695R to a listenable level. Measurements given today are on the 1.8.

..Expect me to be grubby unwashed b'std in future ..as I'll have to take less baths from now on ..
...invest in some extra layers of clothing and sit in a pile of newspapers kept warm by my own Filth..
Yes ..just announced on the news that Gas prices are set to rise yet again ...and will continue to do so for the forseeable..

Oh wait ...I've just had an epiphany ..
What we need to do to fix this is ..
Drop the tax rate for high earners..
Jack all the prices up ..perhaps raise VAT..
Award all the high earning bankers and chief execs a big bonus for their mighty cockups..
Throw billions at some olymic sized fiasco ...that should benefit a few % ..
That'll give the landlords a chance to pitch out their tennants ..and rent out the properties for lotsa luverly dosh..
Oh ..and while we're at it ...we could build a spiral shaped metal monstrosity just outside the main arena ..
Now thats thinking ..cos the warm glow of pride it'll create when someone looks at it ..will keep 'em warm for months..

Sorry to hijack the thread ...
Just needed a rant after hearing the news.
Still ...it made my blood boil for a few minutes ..
No need to turn on the heating till 7:0pm now..

So if I setup my 1m dish up on 39e and move the motor a bit east wards it be fine?

Edit actually may put on my 1.2 Gibertini on wall fixed at 40e for now.

That's what I did with my Triax 88cm, which was already on 39E - I didn't have to move it at all. VS's excellent thread on using his 80cm dish inspired me to have a go on C-Band.

Yep no luck going to wait for offset feed to arrive for 20E.

For now I have a fantastic signal on the 4.8E Nordic Beam KU on the 1.2M Gibertini.

Channel Master Wall Mount I'm using makes it impossible for me to go further than 1W :( with how dish is mounted so no trying 5W for now.

I'd rather it in use than left in storage.

Tomorrow going to try a DISEQC motor to give more room and bring in 5W, not sure on the kind of arc I'll get other than 19.2e-1w got all these manually today.

When I first started with C-band here in the USA with a similar size dish, I used BLINDSCAN its the only way I managed to pull in anything..... Even if your off with your polarity you will scan something in, then peak onto that signal........ If the polarity is found to be wrong, rotate the LNB to correct it. Now and again LNB as mismarked for polarity, ESPECIALLY C/Ku LNB, I think coz they are made in two parts.

Good luck Pal!

Thanks for the advice Pete.

Not had any experience with C-band until today will keep using this thread till I get some success. Will then post some screenshots.

Scalar ring arrived this morning, thanks to Simon over at SatEuropa for everything.

Managed to mount the dish on the DISEQC motor so giving me so more room to drive to 5W and swapped out the KU LNB for the C-Band one.

My father who has been helping fit the 125cm Gibertini because of its size made a little bracket for the LNB out of sheet steel.

Had some success with transponders on 5W.

I have also found what I think are some data transponders on a blindscan.

Here are some screenshots:

Nothing quite like your 1st C-Band signals : ) Now you have a signal you can peak onto it, then do another blind scan, you may pick up a few more! Remember to try the focal distance and polarity when peaking!

Yep ..you're on yer way buddy ..
The bug has bitten ..
Remember though Polarity is not relevant on circular polarised channels ..
Only the position of the dielectric plate relative to the 2 probes in the lnb feed throat is relevant ..
Not true of H/V polarised signals ..where the polarisation and angular rotation of the lnb becomes a relevant factor..
L/R is much easier and requires little setting up other than the lnb being at the focus ..and the feed being adjusted for max signal.

You might try making a 'T' plate ..or a doctor of sat plate ...(harder) ..
Both plates will give you a roughly 2db increase in gain compared to the plate that ships with the LNB.
Hope to see more results soon ..

Those border line transponders 'breaking' up are exactly what you might stabalise with a decent depolarising plate ..
Time to raid the kitchen ??
Just make sure they have finished making tea ..before you nip off with the chopping board ..

Are you using Crazyscan blind scanning for your found channels remlap?

I've a good mind to give it a go again using my SMW dish using the DR.HD or TBS 6925 this time.

hi remlap -
i,m pleased you got some good results :)
just down to fine tuning it all now
you have probably already found the best position for the l.n.b. itself, and the feed position ---
you will be surprised - how much more signal you can get when using a non standard plate -
and found which type works best on your dish -- it can take some time though to get the right plate and the best position for it , on your setup :D

regards nelson.b.
