Looking well beefed up mate! Looks the part!

Thanks CB:)
Those eye bolts look suspiciously like the ones I used on Carl ..
are they I wonder ?
Got mine on ebay listed as gate hinges ..but sadly not in stainless ..
(10mm )
are yours ?
Mine were just galvanised ...
would have preferred SS and was prepared to pay a bit more for'em ..but they didn't do stainless..

I am not sure if there the same as yours Evan, they are the same as I put on the 1.2 dish a few years ago and recently on the 1224, no there not stainless but high quality from a good local supplier, I knackered a £17 drill bit drilling them so shows the quality of them, good quality and galvanised is nearly as good as stainless, you only need to look at the mount ive taken of the 1.5 its been out in all weathers for the last 30 years and still like new :).

Hi samoloko, the ones on the elevation are 125mm i drilled the hole out to 20mm. the L is 6mm, there is 5 and 4 mm steel used on different parts,

Yes its HD, maybe ok for a 2.4 CM but certainly a light weight 2.4/mesh 3mtr.

Beautiful job Martin ..
I'm Impressed mate.
Quick question tho'
On completion of the mount will you just paint it (hamerite or similar) ..or will you take the more lasting route of getting the parts powder coated ..
Certainly the latter would me my choice ..assuming you can find someone to do this economically..
Looking forward to seeing some Cband results..
;)

Hi Evan, thank you, the last few days I have been considering having it powder coated, but I am unsure of the cost, a friend of a friend does this for a living and has a little workshop nearby, I guess its worth taking it and getting a price, ive gone to all this trouble time effort and money so a bit more wont hurt but its down to how much he will charge, I can only say TBC,

The mount stands me at just over £100 atm plus my time but that's free to me. ive enjoyed doing this, the bearings pushed the price up a fair bit, but its still a cheap HD mount and imho better than anything you can buy off the shelf so worth spending a few extra $ but it will be still down to cost:), i will let you know what route I take in the near future :).

When i did my polar mount (still not finished! alignment and wiring to sort) i used rustoleum combi color metal primer and top coat, when ive used hammerite in the past it only lasts a year or two before the rust comes through cost me about £35 to paint mount and pole/brackets, will see if money well spent?

All PFs have a certain sexyness and Character Martin ..
Something lacking with Offsets..
I think Satellite Superstores description says it best re-PFs ..

A Precision prime focus dish is a mans satellite dish, them offset focus dishes are for pussy whipped gimps. Forget the bollox about the feed and support arms blocking out the signal, just get a bigger prime focus. Its a no contest, the offset focus dish did not even get to the starting line.

The day I have to consider erecting an offset focus dish for my own use will be the day I give up with satellite.

Hi, another little job is resealing the back ring on the dish, I noticed water marks on the back of the dish, it turns out the seal has cracked in places, I will redo it with outdoor decorators caulk and give it a coat of paint :).

Hi Evan, it looks like I will be painting it, looking at the techniques used in powder coating it needs to be heated in a type of furnace, the bearings introduced to this mount I welded them on, it certainly would do them no good being put through a furnace, I will be making another shortly for the 1.8 I will make sure the ones I make with bearings in the future are bolted on, my mistake I bought the steel then the bearings,

Now I know what bearings I will be using I can buy steel to suit in the future :)

It certainly does, I admire your setup and workman ship of your installs, certainly fit for any king :)
Thanks Martin. Your dish farm (a term we here in NA use for more than one dish) is quite impressive also. Not to mention your drive and quality of work.

Thanks Kevin, I still have lots of work to do here tiding wires another mount to make making sure everything is neat and tidy, but yes I am getting there slow but sure:), the quality of your installs is my end goal, I just don't have the time atm still lots of work to do to my home along with earning a living this time next year hopefully house and dishes are complete and I can start enjoying my dxing :)

why didn't use only one latitude adjustment rod like Channel Master did for their mounts
