Scopus,

Thank you for the feedback The CM probably has the edge over the Precision in terms of signal level due to the offset focus design where the CM feed arms and LNB holder do not block the signal path to the face of the dish.

Personally, I would still choose the Precision due to the aesthetics of appearance and much lighter weight. It's just me, I prefer the look of a prime focus dish to an offset focus dish and I also like how light and easy the larger Precision dishes are for handling. If the signal level was critical I would simply get a larger prime focus dish to meet my needs.

Having said that, the CM 2.4m dish is a very good dish. The last one I saw go on eBay recently was a 2 piece unit and it went for a bargain price of £399. That included a high quality dual axis tracking mount with actuators, amazing value for whoever bought it.

Agree Moonbase, The Precision dishes really look the part!

Thank you scopus, so i guess it will go down the line the 2.4 CM will beat anything out there size for size.

I would love the CM 2.4, but SWMBO put her foot down!

stop guessing, start realising your incredible luck!

No guess work here st1, but unfortunately the council would not be in the same frame of mind as my wife, talking of big dishes you might as well send me your 2.4 if the wife wont let you install it :D

Very courteous of you to offer your assistance, but I would have to respectfully decline your kind proposition...

Worst case, I've looked at renting a little bit of rooftop on a local commercial building (much easier to get planning permission), and sticking the antenna there with a remote controlled receiver (PC with a VLAN connection)!

Well, you do have the lovely summer house you just built - that would house your dish collection nicely (including that 4.5 meter Channel Master)...

Yes indeed, you have caught the bug....

The dish face is quite flat on this dish, not sure if its because i am used to looking at bigger dishes ? or this dish is made slightly different ? any info on this type of dish st1 please.

Lenson were good dishes, I had a 1M years ago, with careful tweaking I just got a D2 MAC signal off Thor 1 with it, very sparklie and only Eurosport would lock on a very clear day....those were the days!

We had an 80cm one... Not a chance on Thor 1 sadly, I could only just about see the encrypted rolling D2MAC picture amongst the noise. Worked fine for Intelsat 702(?) and Thor 2, though. Yes, those days were the best. It's pretty boring in comparison now.
