Probably because the signal is optional and contains no data, then you must have a tuner that knows how to narrow band at least 1 MHz step.
I'll put a picture where constalation is display a different pattern, perhaps because tuner does not read all stream although the distance between 11164 and 11165 is less than 1MHz.
No the signal strength matter, which is 19.2 dB now, but what the tuner knows to do!

Fuerteventura is much the same as Trigger in Lanzarote. Can get south beams on 80cm (but usually siggest 1mtr). 1.2 can just about hold up north beams and a 135 brings in clearly the 2A/2B EB fixed (again verticals same as trigger)

My 3.7 mtr though is struggling to hold 2d Horizontals 24/7 and many of the 3mtr dishes here lose 2d early evening. Unlike Tenerife where the 3 mtr offsets can hold 2d horizontals just about 24/7. Lots of differences between the islands even with the 2a and 2b beams it seems.

I am currently thinking of a 5 mtr dish which should give an extra 2db gain which may be enough. BUT do not want to spend in case all change next year with the 2d replacement. Time to look at iptv methinks...but where is the fun in that!!

i was having trouble on a channel master dish to keep 2d H in during evenings like 21.30 onwards,so i think power for 2d is less,or it is slightly off

I tried on a Humax Foxsat round at a mates last night after posting I couldn't get it here at home, could see it ok late yesterday eve so suspect as there's nothing on it some Rx's are not finding lock (unless it is actually going off)?

Can those with sotware Analysers confirm if indeed 11053H has been inactive for a few days? Llew's the man :-righton

Been off for days, at least when I take a gander (fairly regularly - I have a dish hooked up pemanently to an old standalone speccy).

Interesting, thought that's why I wasn't seeing anything or maybe my Rx doesn't like the fact it's just full of nullpackets? Something must be due to appear on here shortly.

Solly: this TP (11053H) is on the UK spotbeam.

11,053H is transmitting basic DVB structural data containing basic BSkyB platform data in BAT:

There is already one channel listed in PAT, however no PIDs associated with it. NIT again is wrong, FEC is listed as 7/8, but it is 5/6.

Future (maybe!!): xxxcm dish -> Astra1N->FTA -> BBC !!!

Hi there everyone, first post here :-)

I'm trying to help good old mommy receiving BBC in Tuscany, Italy.

I know about the narrow beam, however there are currently many users happily receiving BBC from Astra 2D on geolocations considered to be out of footprint, that i's like to take a chance on 1N!

I have been tracking Astra 1N, and wondering, now that's in place, when it will begin to transmit, in your opinion.

- Will 28.2 be the final location?
- Do you believe BBC could crypt the signal on 1N?
- Are there any tests that can be performed by the technician to begin testing with a larger dish, verifying signal strength?

Your thoughts?

- Will 28.2 be the final location?
-> of 1N? No - 1N (like all 1x satellites) was made for 19.2 east, but it is on a so called "interim mission" at 28.2 now (normally only 2x sats serve there.
- Do you believe BBC could crypt the signal on 1N?
-> No - the BBC cannot encrypt again as they have established a platform called "freesat", and those boxes do not support an encryption system. However, at this point there are no signs BBC transponders are to move on 1N.
- Are there any tests that can be performed by the technician to begin testing with a larger dish, verifying signal strength?
-> Yes - a professional installer can check signal strength with different dish sizes and find out what is necessary in your place.

More questions:
- Assuming 28.2 is a temporary location, does it makes any sense testing on this? Shouldn't I wait until 1N will be moved to it's final destination?
- Are there any time schedules on this "final destination"?
- Will BBC start transmitting from 1N on 28.2 or only at 19.2?

BBC will remain at 28.2E regardless of how, when and where Satellites are shuffled.

1n is only at 28.2 temporary until 2e,2f,2g come along as 28.2 has techincally run our of capicty on narrow beam before astra estimated it would. all uk channels will remain at 28.2 as it costs the operators here a large amount of money to switch to a new location ie realligning all teh dishs.

however no one know what the spots ie narrow beams for 2e,2f,2g are goign to be like just now 1n which is a temporary mission spot beam seems to be more tighter with less overspill than 2d just now, but 1n was not dseigned for 28.2 but 2e,2f,2g are so there spot bems might be even tighter as the techology is much better than when 2d was built

hope that helps, so in basic terms you might be ble to get the channesl in italy jsut now witha bigge renough dish but in 2-3 years they could all be gone for good or you might require a even larger dish no one knows
