No change for the BBC HD signal, the same as the other 2D transponders for me too near London.

Switching to Astra 1N doesn't necessarily mean a frequency change. So it might be possible that some 2D transponders just change satellite. The past has learned us that this happens at night/early morning. We don't know what SES plans are. No official word on this yet. Only that the Astra 1N is operational and the addition of three/four new transponders.

Well, since Yesterday the SQ of 10847 (BBC HD transponder) is 95-100% here now, but I seem to be the only one. Maybe a super spotbeam of the Astra 1N to my place :D

I can confirm from Gran Canaria that we are receiving both Horizontal and Vertical polarity from Astra 1N UK Spot beam (Channel 4 HD on TID:0x814 (2068) confirmed this afternoon). My equipment as described on the left. This is excellent news as it means we are getting better reception from 1N than we do from 2D (no verticals on 2D). If the information posted yesterday that SES plan to migrate all 2D frequencies to 1N is true then this is a fantastic result as at present we have no BBC HD channels.

Here further south no change, same signal level as before, around 70%. On 1N frequencies have around 95/98% so they are still on 2D.

Yes but you are using an ASC 2.4m (equivalent to a 3.1m prime - in respect to what it can receive); the majority using the smaller dish (1.35m) in Lanzarote for example, will have lost Ch4HD and soon the forthcoming ITV's and Ch5 family.

It remains to be seen what the smallest dish size here will be. I have established that 80cm and 1.2m are no go.

Unlike the two more Northern islands of Las Palmas where 1.8m dishes can pull in some of the North beams only the South beams of 2A/2B and EB1 fixed beam can be pulled in here without going up to a 2.4m offset Channel Master or a 3.1m prime focus. This means there are virtually no existing installations with medium sized dishes on which to test. I am not quite sure how we will address this - maybe the local satellite installers will do some experimentation and we will shortly see adverts in the English language press giving a clue.

with the statement from robs about "Transmission on 2D will be transferred on 1N (with same parameters) next year", any idea if this will be ALL 2D transmissions, or just a few, like the encrppted / sky ones, or can you really see ALL channels, including BBCs moving to 1N? Could this be on a "secret" beam that no-one knows about yet to keep the "right holders" happy?

Exactly the same only the SD ITV channels on 11973 are encrypted whilst it's all FTA on 11053.

The new HD channel is FTA on both.

I very much doubt than Astra 2B north beam can be received in Lanzarote, at least with small dishes. Here on my location I strugle to get 2B north, signal is weak here, so there wich is further south signal will be much weaker than here.
